Serious question - where do people play cds these days? Mine will stay in plastic never to be used because the only place I can play it is on my PS3 that I kept in case I ever need to watch something on dvd or blu ray (and that hasn’t happened for at least 2 years). I’d be interested to know, because I’ve complained about these things not being on vinyl for a few years, but surely cds are even more useless to most people in 2022? If you can’t play vinyl, you can sell it for a profit in a few years?

Here I am late to the party because I only just had to re-subscribe. What an awful, awful subscription "gift".
As others have said...thanks for the paperweight, I guess. Maybe I'll use it as a coaster.

Fair enough - might be a grossly blind statement of privilege but I assume most people somehow connect phones to car systems rather than cd drives (if their car even has one) these days.

I also have a CD player in my car. Was kind of surprised it had one (2016), I expect next car won't.

When I take my time machine back to the year 2000, these CDs are a life saver

I still have and love CDs. I have a nice system in my basement and still enjoy opening up a new release, laying back, and combing through the booklet and reading the lyrics for the first time.

I started collecting u2 vinyl only a couple of years ago but cd is still my preference which I’ve been collecting most of my life. I don’t listen to either too often but I find cd’s a much better back up than vinyl in case anything was to go wrong with the digital files which is how I listen to music most of the time. Only a couple of years ago my laptop completely broke down and I was relieved to be able to take cd’s like u22 and from the ground up and burn them to my iTunes from my new laptop.

Can already listen to mysterious ways, it’s on u22. Mysterious ways and zoo station very lazy choices.

To be fair, I don’t think the band actually has a sit down meeting to listen to every live version for a fan gift. They have other things going on and most likely delegate this task and have very little to no involvement on these fan gifts.

I think it’s probably partly left to others to do some picking and choosing to begin with but I can’t imagine the band would let any of their music be released without giving it the all clear even if it’s just at the final stage giving the songs a quick listen. Wouldn’t be surprised if Edge alone took that task upon himself. Maybe different versions of zoo station and mysterious ways were picked which weren’t given the all clear and the easy solution was to say let’s go with stuff that’s already out there. Cedarwood road oddly was from the paris show on the SOI live disc on a subscriber set with every other song on that disc being previously unreleased and it wouldn’t surprise me again if a different version was chosen that they weren’t happy with and they chose a quick and easy replacement.
