I've listened to the new album a LOT due to my current horrendously long commute to work. Even though I haven't heard the songs live, I have a good feeling for what I like/don't like about the new album. Hence, I rank:
1. Moment of Surrender (finally, Bono can say "Edge, play the blues" and mean it!)
2. Fast Cars (a treat that should have appeared on all copies of HTDAAB, not just the ones in the U.K.)
3. The Troubles (Wowzers! A fantastic new song - my favorite off of SoI - and arguably the best closer since JT and AB)
4. Beautiful Day (This song helped return U2 to "relevancy" - and it's because it's just a great song. It does not age.)
5. The Miracle (I REALLY like this track. I know some here feel it's a simple pop tune, but for some reason, this is the type of pop song U2 have wanted to create for ages (IMO) and it finally works.)
6. Magnificent (simple, but classic uplifting U2)
7. Vertigo (this one actually dropped because I feel U2 never quite capture in concert what the found in the studio, despite very strong attempts to do so).
8. The Ground Beneath Her Feet (I've always enjoyed this song - U2 took simple lyrics and created a powerful love song).
9. White As Snow (just a beautiful album track - helps me forget about some NLOTH misfires, like Crazy Tonight).
10. Electrical Storm (a great song a bit "wasted" on a Greatest Hits release)
Bonus: Crazy Tonight - CONCERT VERSION (while I abhor the album track, U2 took a so-so remix of a terrible song and created something brilliant in concert.)
