2. Vertigo- big rock song for U2 & last big single- Grammys for best rock song 2005

5. Iris- best song off new album imo. Should be single
6. Moment of Surrender- best NLOH song, voted by Rolling Stone as song of year 09
7. Elevation- great fun song live and concert opener on the so named ElevationTour
8. Stuck in a Moment- wonderful heartfelt song, different vibe for U2
9. Every Breaking Wave- might be a classic, like to hear acoustic version next week
10. Mercy (original)- best unreleased song from the band ever. The Wide Awake live version is no contest to the original

Very interesting!!!!

I saw your top POP songs and now this and it's now confirmed.

You and I are very much in line with the "type" of U2 song we like and don't like, which on one hand is very rare to find around these parts. On the other hand, it makes our contrasting views on SOI even more odd!

It might mean nothing or it might mean that in time I will dislike SOI or you will like it(although you are very stubborn about it).


Although Wild Honey and Fez I would have to say NO WAY!!!! Other than that.....not to shabby!

It feels wrong to include the first two - two stunning songs that are very much the curtain coming down on one form of U2, and are not at all a part of the U2 that follow – but a lot of other people are, and technically it’s right, so they deserve a further vote here.

Only a month in so The Troubles is the only SOI track, I think it’s in a clear #1 from that album for me, and then the next 3 or 4 behind it are all pretty much even, at least for now.

Atomic Bomb was end to end shit in 2004 and it’s even worse today.

Probably the next closest tracks below these ten are No Line and Stuck In A Moment (although I do feel like I’m forgetting something obvious), then honestly there’s a bit of a drop to the next batch.

The vast majority of the 00s music has been pretty… competent, but not great, IMO. But holy hell, how ‘bout those touring records, eh?
