A Time to Cull

I've decided to give my CD collection the most brutal ruthless cull ever as I seem to be in a middle of a general decluttering patch lately. Once I got over my usual squeamish "oh noooo I'll give it more chance" reluctance to part with CDs, it's actually quite liberating to cut them down. So far I've culled 110 CDs, and looking at the big pile of them sitting on the floor, it's an uneasy thought that there's a $1,500 - $2,000 mountain of unnecessary stuff sitting there reproaching me and my careless spending habits. Sure, it's been accumulated over the last 15 years or so but still.
So my (belated) New Year's resolution when it comes to CDs is:
1) Listening before buying.
2) Don't grab every single album I mildly like, because I have hundreds of CDs I love already.
I still can't part with the albums that have a strong sentimental value like Jagged Little Pill and Roxette Best Of (my first CD ever), so maybe I'll need to get even more ruthless to do that
Now I feel like going through my massive magazine collection from the last 15 years... that will be fun.

It's an act of giving up something valued for the sake of something else considered more important or worthy.
