Ok for those who don't no, 'Private Eye' is a satirical British 'newspaper' published fortnightly. Anyway as a tribute to Bono taking over the independent for the day... they wrote a bit with the independant editor taking over U2 for the day - i reproduce below.

If anyone needs this explained (esp outside the UK im more than happy 2)

Simon Kelner - Guest Frontman for U2
by our media staff Phil Space of the independent on Sunday Bloody Sunday

The charismatic editor Simon Kelner, wearing his trademark Goatee beard, took over the little-known rock group U2 in a bold exeriment to make people look at the irish band 'in a diffrent light.'

Kelner was quick to stamp his mark on U2 with an immediate change of format. "It's now half the size and will be called U1" he said. Kelner then insisted that all the songs were about Iraq and the album cover should no longer have photographs on them, but instead should only feature boring lists of boring numbers, preferably about the Iraq war. As a final gesture he demanded that the independent cartoonist Sally Ann Lasson should join the band "because she is my wife".

This isn't just a gimmick" said Kelner. "We're going to make pverty of ideas history"

A few notes if you're reading this outside of the UK

Simon Kelner, Newsppaer editor, Independent is obseesed with making his paper downsize from Broadsheet to Tablod (by half in other words)

This paper has far to much coverage about iraq.

Its frontpage regulary features numbers.
