The album trilogy went out the window as far back as 1987 rendering UF unique.

Well all U2 albums are unique in sound. It's an evolution.

I think TJT actually sounds more like TUF than any other album and vice versa.

I think UF & R&H couldn't sound any more different

1 - Achtung Baby/Zooropa/Pop (By far )
2. Unforgettable Fire/The Joshua Tree/Rattle and Hum (Rattle and a Hum lets the others down)
3. All That You Can't Leave Behind/How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb/No Line on the Horizon
4. Boy/October/War (Never really cared too much about the first albums).

I have never understood this trilogy stuff. I think it was something a critic in Rolling Stone wrote about. When I try to put it all together with U2 it's about tonality. Sometimes they hear something we don't. Sometimes they are wrong. Sometimes they are right.

Here's my list:

Best - 2: Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree, Rattle & Hum
2nd - 1: Boy, War, October
3rd - 3: Achtung Baby, Pop, Zooropa
4th - (5): Songs of Innocence, Songs of Experience?, ?
5th - 4: ATYCLB, HTDAAB, NLOTH

I *already* put Songs of Innocence -- the first in their next album trilogy, hopefully -- above ATYCLB, HTDAAB, and NLOTH! First, SoI is so damn good, and trilogy #4 is almost disqualified by NLOTH which is just an awful, awful album. I am hoping that SoE and whatever comes after it are at least somewhat as good as SoI but expect both to be better than NLOTH even without hearing them yet.
