    SOE promo tour/promo activities

I always thought what let down GOYB most of all was the actual lyric Get on Your Boots and the others which build up to it. If it had been something else the I don't think there'd be as much of a problem with it. I will say one thing for it though - the video has perhaps the funniest moment of...

    SOE ranking in U2’s catalogue

I think there's a difference between what many people consider to be U2's best album and what their favourite U2 album is, and subsequent placings thereafter. There is for me in any case.

Summer of Love - Appreciation Thread

It's the bit at 0:28 that's more 'eye brow raising' as that's the guitar lick. The vocals/melody from 1:18 on, prior to the West Coast part at 1:32, sounds as much like California Dreamin' to my ears.

SOE FAN + industry reviews only

This last paragraph of that sums up why you should pay little attention to reviews.

SOE 35 - it’s finally here, let the debate on how good/bad it is begin!

I tend to agree with this, I love the sound on the opening track.

SOE Holdouts until 12/1- The End is Near

I'd advise listening with headphones over speakers - there are so many tones and little sounds here and there that you may miss them, or at least not appreciate them as much, using the latter and they add a lot to the songs.

    The Blackout (Jacknife Lee Remix)

8-bit Mario & Luigi getting their groove on.

    The Blackout (Jacknife Lee Remix)

Sounds like something you'd hear at some sort of Nintendo NES themed disco.

SOE Holdouts until 12/1- The End is Near

I'd listen to it with headphones first.

Edit: Looks like Morning after Innocence became TLTTGYA

SOE 35 - it’s finally here, let the debate on how good/bad it is begin!

Just to go off on a bit of a tangent - can anyone guess what happened with the other rumoured songs (song titles): Civilisation (I think this may have become The Blackout), Tightrope, Morning after Innocence (LIAWHL?), Mount Zion, Instrument Flying, Where the Shadows Fall, others?

SOE 35 - it’s finally here, let the debate on how good/bad it is begin!

True. I suppose the fact it has such a video made fans treat it as a single. Pretty much yeah. I'm not sure if it's the actual explanation for it but certainly to Irish ears that line doesn't jar. Whilst the line "You're the best thing about me...the best thing that ever happened a boy" would...

SOE 35 - it’s finally here, let the debate on how good/bad it is begin!

With regards to American Soul - I must've listened to the album over 15 times now and with each listen the song does sound increasingly better in the context of the album. It's not a bad song, either on it's own and not in the context mentioned above, but I would agree that it is probably the...

SOE 35 - it’s finally here, let the debate on how good/bad it is begin!

I'm convinced that this album would be a monster success if the band were still in their 20s or 30s but given their age I doubt that will happen, or at least it's much harder to say. It will probably be more of a slow burner outside the U2 fan base.

SOE 35 - it’s finally here, let the debate on how good/bad it is begin!

Yeah, it sounds a bit like a James Bond theme song to me.

Anyone else think that Love is All We have Left would've fitted very well on the new Blade Runner movie?

SOE 35 - it’s finally here, let the debate on how good/bad it is begin!

Agreed. If you were to separate the songs out individually then it's probably the worst on it, but it does sound much better in the context of the album. I have no idea why it was released as a single though.

SOE Holdouts until 12/1- The End is Near

I wouldn't describe SYCMIOYO, Miss Sarajevo, Please or Moment of Surrender as 'epic anthems'.

SOE Holdouts until 12/1- The End is Near

As Nick66 said above - if you've already ordered the album then you're not caving. If anything reading all the reactions on the other thread may affect your first listening experience.

SOE 34: If there is a leak, don't let it go unheard

Whatever about what was said about it at the time, it's not something you'd hear or read now.
