Pick a classic wich you would like to see skipped the next time!

I have only been to 2 U2 shows in my life and I would like to see it dropped. It is good on record but the only time I have liked it live is on Rattle and Hum.

    Fast Cars-Fans got it played

A week or two ago on thid forum someone posted saying they had spoken to Bono when getting an autograph and had suggested U2 play Fast Cars. Of course U2 then played Fast Cars and we were all kind of sceptical that the fan had any influence. Then looking at U2.com I noticed thsi quote from the...

Pick a classic wich you would like to see skipped the next time!

Pride, Bullet, Beautiful Day, Elevation, I Will Follow. I just can't bring myself to say WOWY as that is my favourite song all time

    HTDAAB Has no staying power

To be honest I think you are suffering from your own intelligence ((a compliment by the way!) In my opinion you are reading far too much into the song.

    HTDAAB Has no staying power

You know when I say unimaginative I mean that the chorus (of vertigo) is almost what I expected it to be. It isn't bad but then it isn't good either. It is almost like it was the first thing they came up with (not always a bad thing e.g One) and didn't bother putting any more thought into it...

    HTDAAB Has no staying power

I think it is pretty clear that when anyone is making a statement about the quality of certain music then it is in their opinion. There is really no point in us having this conversation. You know what I said was IMO and so do I. So if you have anything to add why not write that you disagree...

    HTDAAB Has no staying power

. Vertigo- Liked it at first but has somewhat suffered from being overplayed. The chorus is unimaginative and does not match the brilliant guitar riff. Miracle Drug-The main thing I would fault on this track is the guitar work. It sounds like Edge is running out of ideas. SYCMIOYO- OK it...

    HTDAAB Has no staying power

OK now you're just trying to be clever. I think it is pretty clear that just because I didn't write IMO it is still only in my opinion.

    HTDAAB Has no staying power

I think the 'theme' of an album only becomes important when you have the tunes to back it up and quite frankly U2 didn't.

The Rolling Stones can kiss my ass!!!

Re: Re: Re: The Rolling Stones can kiss my ass!!! Well I just think people are being silly when the get all worked up about what another band says about a band they like.

The Rolling Stones can kiss my ass!!!

Why do you care what someone else says about U2? Are you in U2? How can you possibly take this insult personally?

    HTDAAB Has no staying power

Ok I'll give you Yahweh but that doesn't mean overall the album isn't commercial sounding. I think OOTS is very commercial sounding though.

your SUV subsidizes terror, even if you have a yellow ribbon on it

Never mind SUV's I bet alot of Americans own cars that they don't even need!

Green Day influenced by U2 again.

Well it amounts to the same thing really doesn't it.

You know how it seems all U2 albums grow on you over time?

Zooropa and Pop are the ones that have grown on me the most. Whereas ATYCLB and HTDAAB started well but went downhill. Still think my favourite is Achtung Baby (though that was a grower aswell)

Green Day influenced by U2 again.

To say Green Day are copying U2 because of a video with a red screen is pretty ridiculous IMO.specially as the music sounds very different. However I feel the arguments about Coldplay are trying to be U2 are justified though. Not because of one particular aspect of what they are doing but...

Green Day influenced by U2 again.

Green Day have an extra guitarist on stage so I wouldn't really class them as a three piece band. Edge does not play lead and rhythm at the same time either, there is blatantly an extra guitar in some songs (ABOY, One etc) and it is not Bono playing it even when he has a guitar. U2 have an...

    I have a theory.

I don't think that is the reason at all. For a kickoff I would class WOWY as standout and epic. Do you realise that you're saying they left mercy off the album because it is standout? Do you not think that sounds kind of silly? Especially as HTDAAB and ATYCLB are albums full of singles

    Overrated Beatles songs.

Hey Jude, Strawberry Fields Forever, Segeant peppers...,In fact most of their stuff

More than a month after x&y is released, and I am underwhelmed.

Too right. What bothers me about this board is that if you criticise Coldplay you seem to be automatically saying "Coldplay are rubbish and U2 are amazing". It seems that people get back at you for criticising Coldplay by criticising U2. I don't like X&Y or HTDAAB that much. But Pop and...
