I really hope that isn't The Edge.

Hah! He's got some moves when he wants 'em!

Best version of 11 o'clock tick tock?

The March 6, 1981 version at the Paradise Theatre in Boston is pretty awesome.

    Let's hear it for Mofo...

LOVE LOVE LOVE MOFO!!!!!!! One of my Top 5 U2 songs of all time. The "Lookin' for to fill that God-shaped hole" lyric may be, in my humble opinion, Bono's best ever. Gave me chills first time I heard it. Still does.

what guitar players does edge resemble the most?

Young Edge looks strikingly similar to Ben Kweller.

    Bono on Listed

Kurt Cobain? Was that someone's idea of a joke? I was/am a big fan of Nirvana and Cobain was hugely influential, but he did nothing compelling as a frontman except stand there and, occasionally, break his guitar...and that's only been done a million times. Nothing against the guy, but I just...

Question for all the older people

Great thread! I could write a book on this subject. For the first time in my life though, I'm going to keep it relatively short and comment on their live performances. If you've seen U2 in the 90's and 00's but did NOT see them in the 80's, think of it this way: You know all the TV's hanging...

    Please on the Elevation Tour

I can see it losing a lot of it's power on a recorded version, but it was absolutely amazing to have seen it live. Keep in mind this was right after September 11. Bono noted during the introduction of the song that his wife pointed out how eerily similar the lyrics reflected that day (i.e...

Most cliche Bono line? The ones that make you groan...

In recent interviews, I again, as in 2004, keep hearing him say "We're making our best music ever" After hearing Windows in the Sky, it sounds to me like they're making Coldplays best music ever.

All Because of You sounds like...

Great observation! That probably explains why Bono, at their "Under the Brooklyn Bridge" show, introduced the song as "a love song to The Who."

Did anyone ever see U2 when they first started?

A friend of mine saw them in Tallahassee, FL in 1981 when they were opening for the J. Geils Band. He said no one was paying attention to them when they first started playing, but by the time their short set was over, everyone was totally into them. Also, he claims he saw them at a McDonalds...

    U218 iTunes Window Rip-Off

iTunes can be a pain in the @$$ for sure. However, I think Island Records is more to blame for this one. They're releasing this greatest hits collection (which has already been released...twice) to cash in on U2 one more time before they switch to Mercury Records.

    Pop or Rock?

I don't feel as though U2's style of music fit the classic definition of rock OR pop. I honestly believe they are in a catagory of their own. They do something in the studio and on stage that is outside, or maybe even beyond, the realm of either of these two genres. A rather nebulous...

What song can't you stand, but others do?

Stuck in a Moment is an awful song. The only thing worse than the song is the video.

    Kurt Cobain vs The Edge

If I recall correctly, that list was the result of a fan poll, as is evidenced by the younger guitarists being so near the top. In fact it looks more like a popularity contest. Kurt Cobain and The Edge notwithstanding, how in the HELL did Eddie Van Halen show up as # 70? He's top 5 at...

One of their best performence ever

I was at the Atlanta Amnesty show in 1986. To this day it is hands down the greatest concert I've ever been to...and also my FIRST. Bono and the boys were absolutely mesmerizing. Easily the most energy I've ever seen from a band at a show ever as Bono was all over the stage, speaker columns...

    Adam Clayton vs. Mike Mills

Have to give the nod to Mike Mills, musically and contribution wise. Nothing against Adam, but Mike Mills is an incredible musician. He does so much more for REM than just play bass. To be honest though, I'm biased. I used to live in Athens as well and I too would see the members of REM...

When did you start to like and love U2?

Liked them after seeing the Two Hearts Beat as One video when I was a kid. Saw the Red Rocks Sunday Bloody Sunday video about six months after that and was mesmerized. Loved them on June 11, 1986 when I was in my early teens. They headlined the Amnesty International show here in Atlanta and -...

    who would play Bono?

Samuel L. Jackson Seriously, what era Bono are we talking about? Robin Williams is the obvious choice for a Bono circa 2000-2006 because they look so much alike. However, I think RW is a little too eccentric to play the B-Man effectively. If it's a young Bono we're talking about, I've always...

The Best Solos of The Edge

Bono at the world cup final?

A German media outlet just reported that Bono was in fact at the game, but was escorted from the stadium by security for head-butting Sting in the chest.

    Bono's Best Instrument

Bono is a LOUSY harmonica player. Anyone could do what he does, even if they've never picked one up before. Come to think of it, he's not that great of a guitar player either. VOICE baby VOICE!!!

    Your Favorite Song????

Even though I've followed U2 since I was a young teenager in 1983, I have to go with Mofo as my personal favorite. Just an amazing song all around. Arguably Bono's best lyrics and the guitar work is phenomenal, simple but phenomenal. Ask me this quesion in five years though and I'll probably...

    Bono vs. Eddie Vedder

You knew it was coming. Actually, this comparison has probably benn posted before. Both are absolutely electric frontmen who mesmerize their audiences. Both are politically conscious and active. Both obviusly, front incredible bands. Lastly - and I'm not sure about this - but I think Bono...
