    Found an old article online...

Mission Impossible was played over the PA, at full volume, before Popmuzik, when I saw them in November 97. But it was not played live by the band.

Could U2 pull off another ZooTV/Popmart at this point?

I can see them doing something as interesting, thought-provoking, outside of the box as Zoo or Popmart. I don't buy the idea that such a concept has to grow out of some profound album. There's not really anything about Achtung Baby the album that screams ZOO TV, and nothing about POP that...

Original Of The Species - Bono's accoustic tacet

A few open chords, mostly barre chords, all standard chord shapes, nothing funky. Use Adam's bassline to figure out the chords, he plays the root notes clear through the song.

MERGED--> Adams bass rig + adams equiptment

This tour (at least this leg of the tour) Fender Jazz bass, dark green, maple neck Fender Jazz bass, goldish-brown, maple neck with black blocks Fender Jazz bass, sunburst, maple neck with black blocks Fender Jazz bass, sunburst, rosewood neck (2) Lakland Daryl Jones, one green, one...

    One - chicago dvd

I would imagine it's the same as it's been since Zoo TV.

    Edge's Live Tunings

You might be right. . . at least 1-1/2 steps down. I watched Slane last night after only listening to Vertigo tour versions for quite a while, and it sounded lower. I didn't have a guitar next to me to check it . . . 1-1/2 makes sense, that way Adam could just use a bass tuned 1/2 step down...

Conan O'Brien - Stuck in a Moment [guitar tuning question]

I would assume Edge composed the chord progression in open E and has just always played it that way. . . I really doubt he "relearned" the song in open tuning just for the heck of it. The part he played live on the Elevation tour was different than the chord progression of the song, so he...

    Edge's Live Tunings

SBS and Pride are now played a full step down-- Adam has "transposed" them so he can keep his bass in standard tuning, while Edge is using a different guitar tuned down (so he still can play open chords). Watch the actual frets Adam is playing versus the chords Edge is playing. I believe both...

The Mystery of the Edge's Disappearing Hairline

Bono was wearing the cowboy hat again when he came out to introduce Kayne West in St. Louis . . . But yeah, Adam stopped coloring his hair and let it go gray/white, Edge should follow his lead, lose the beanie and stop dressing like a 19 year-old. At least he isn't wearing the numbered shirts...

Last Gig As Boys Say Goodbye

I don't think it will be announced, meaning I don't think they will mount some lame 'farewell tour.' I think they will just wrap up whatever tour they happen to be on, and the next one just won't be announced. Because I don't see U2 ever making an actual "decision" that some certain gig will...

    Europe Set List

I don't buy that at all as the reason for Vertigo being played twice . . . yes, it explains the placement of COBL, etc. later in the set, but they are playing Vertigo twice because they feel like it, not because of the production. I had a feeling the shows would be opening and closing with...

    Adam Stealing Cigarettes?

Um. . . maybe Liam was, like, joking? Being sarcastic? Giving Adam a hard time?

    Vertigo screen vs Popmart screen

Each Vertigo "square" has higher quality and resolution than the Popmart screen, but Vertigo has the spaces between each square, so you get the "blocky" image. If you factor in the space between each square in determining the overall resolution of the screen, the two screens will be more...

    Adam's Best Super-Bassy Moments

I really like this one too. . . even though on the album version Adam's bass sounds like 4 rubber bands stretched over a cardboard box. I've played bass for about 7 years, but just recently started using a pick, so I've been using a lot of Adam's lines for practice, Two Hearts being one of...

    Larry's Drums

Maybe in the past, the drums were meant to "match" the stage set somehow, in color, style, etc. With Elevation and Vertigo being a more stripped down production, maybe now Larry's just playing drums that he likes, it doesn't matter so much how they look.

Europe is getting Zooropa & Pop songs according to Adam

I don't see Lemon happening-- even with Bono's voice being at its best since Zoo TV, I think Lemon is probably out of his range. I'd say most any of the other Zooropa and POP songs that were played regularly on those tours is fair game though. I would like to see Bullet, Sunday Bloody Sunday...

    OOTS Live = GORGEOUS

They should release it as a single, along with a "single version." They wouldn't really need to re-record it, just re-mix the album version so it is just piano, drums, bass, and maybe the acoustic guitar. Take the electric guitar, the synths, strings, etc. out of the mix.

    Riding in cars with U2

I think Larry is always driving any time he is shown in a car.

    WOWY in the bin

If you watch the Classic albums DVD about the Joshua Tree, they tell the story about Streets almost being "erased."-- Eno was going to erase it on purpose, because they had been doing take after take, redoing track after track, obsessing over it-- he knew that the band knew the song frontwards...

Flood Should be Fired for COBL

Yes, but if you crank up AB to the same apparent volume as HTDAAB, AB will sound far more dynamic, where HTDAAB is just loud loud loud loud.

    In God's Country vs. Yahweh

I thought that Yahweh sounded like One Tree Hill.

    ZooTV and POP Videos

I don't really get that logic-- it is good enough to release initially on VHS, but not good enough for DVD? If you want to get picky, the footage and audio mix on Slane aren't very polished but personally I prefer it to Boston. . . I don't know, but it doesn't seem like there would be much...

    OoTS is my favorite song.

I like the song OoTS, but I kind of don't like the "string section" arrangements. I wish that could have been achieved with guitars and/or something more subtle. . . and the "dit it dit it" part can be cheesy, but the rest of it is a great song.

Why HTDAAB will one day be a "U2 classic"...

I used to skip songs on Achtung Baby until I had been a U2 "fan" for at least a year or so. . . . Right now, after several weeks, the only song I consistently skip is Love and peace or else. Part of the reason is that I don't care much for it, it hasn't grabbed me yet, but a lot of the reason...

Rare and unreleased: why lossy music and why no seperate purchase?

What some of you are forgetting is that if this were a traditional, physical box set, you wouldn't be able to buy any single tracks at all. And really, these rare tracks are the types of tracks that you would never ever ever see sold as a stand-alone thing on CD, only in a "box set." We're...
