Random Music Talk CXXX: The AFL Finally Gets Revenge on Meat Loaf

Well, that sucks. Thanks for the info. I've been at a "phone free" show before but no one actually locked up my phone. I don't care about taking pictures or filming, my biggest concern is some sort of emergency event occurring and I can't access my phone.

Are you serious? I’m seeing him next month. I had read this but I didn’t think it was real.

Random Music Talk CXXIX: Gump attends a concert

I think she became more known for Motion Sickness simply because it was written about that trash bag. Based on the crowd's reaction at the show I saw (St. Louis) Kyoto feels far more popular now. I do agree that it was a surprising choice for an opener but I also wondered if she did it just to...

Fiona Apple - Fetch the Bolt Cutters (first masterpiece of the 2020s!)

Amazing. The last time I saw her live was in 2012 but the most memorable show was in 2005, at House of Blues in Las Vegas. She was just incredible that night.

Fiona Apple - Fetch the Bolt Cutters (first masterpiece of the 2020s!)

I'm doing well, thanks! The link you posted to buy merch - has anyone heard of or used that company? It feels odd that she's never had a merch store before and her albums have always been difficult to get on vinyl. Some comments on the company's twitter feed aren't very promising, either.

The National: Sunshine on My B&Ck

The sudden announcement yesterday that Julien Baker would be joining them for the Q&A bummed me out. If we had known about that ahead of time I would have chosen to go to New York instead of Los Angeles. I'm really hoping she joins them in LA because I'm a huge fan of hers.

The National: Sunshine on My B&Ck

On Instagram earlier Matt said these shows "won't be normal National shows." It's interesting that all five venues are similar in capacity and that they're all seated theaters rather than having a ton of GA space.

Random Music CXXV: Least necessary thread edition

I'm from Nevada but I've used that airport twice in the past six months to see shows in LA (The National, boygenius) and I love that airport. I only fly Southwest so that's the terminal I'm familiar with. There are a couple of small restaurants and bars. It's fun that there aren't any jet...

Driving from Vegas to the Joshua Tree

It's pretty hot this time of year for people who aren't used to desert heat. It's a fair hike from highway to tree.

Or at Panamint Springs. That would be the last opportunity to get gas before the tree.

I'm going to this too. Panicked upon seeing Friday night's Music Now opening celebration events will include "very special guests" so now I'm going to that, too. Could be wrong but we don't want to be sitting in a bar three blocks away from a surprise performance. Worst case scenario is we...
