I was at that show and it was astonishing. Basing a concert around the Ghosteen album was very brave. That album is as dark as fcuk and translating to a live setting like he and Warren did was incredible. Very few artists can do this. Throw in songs from his back catalogue and it’s just...
The fact we have posts listing songs that folks prefer to the originals is really good. I like the lyric changes too. It reinforces that nothing was sacred when recording these songs. I still haven’t got through all of it as I keep putting it on when I go to bed. But it’s all very positive...
Well I’m almost done. 3 songs in and I have practically zero interest in hearing any additional SOS songs. Bono croaking over musical nothingness doesn’t do it for me. Presumably these are 3 of the better songs. Agree with the earlier sentiment that this should have been tightly linked to...
Because the Vegas shows wouldn’t be part of a regular tour.
Because the Vegas shows would be timed to coincide with the opening of the venue.
They are unique and moment in time shows.
Because of that you can spin a story around why it’s “ok” for a band member not to be there. It would be...
Will be disappointed if Drowning Man isn’t on SOS. Even thought it’d be a no-brainer chapter title in the book. Plus IIRC it was rehearsed for possible inclusion in one of the recent tours.
Surely the book would do better if there was new material released at the same time. A book by itself will completely sink, no matter how much marketing trickery they throw at it.
What happened to the re-imagined songs? That would have been perfect.

Do we know whether they actually re-recorded all the songs from the ground up or whether some of them are rehashed / restitched from the original studio material? If it’s 40 genuine re-recordings then that’s really interesting. Bono’s voice is so different now compared to the past and I can’t...
I hope the newly recorded songs aren’t U2’s current day recording approach retro applied to older songs. If they take away Edge’s solos and replace them with guitar blandness or piano , put Bono’s voice way too high in the mix and squeeze the life out of music to make it almost sterile then...
Did you ever hear SATS from the opening show of the PopMart tour? An embarrassing and bumbling mess. They even stopped and restarted it, not that doing so helped.
