May 24 2011, Rice Eccles Stadium, Salt Lake City, UT

TRAX running late that evening? Anyone know if TRAX is running late that evening? On their website, the last westbound train that will reach the city center hotels) on the weekday schedule seems to leave at 10:53 PM, unless I am missing something

June 03, 2010 - Rice Eccles Stadium SALT LAKE CITY, UT

Does anyone know if the TRAX line will run late that night? They are listed to close at midnight on weeknights, which only leaves about an hour to get everyone out of there.

2009/10 - The return of The Unforgettable Fire

Would love to see this, but I highly doubt we will. That is one downside to this being a stadium tour. They need to appeal to a very general audience of which the vast majority will not be familiar with songs like the Unforgettable Fire. Plus, they will only play 1-2 nights per city so there...

    Popmart vs Vertigo: first leg

I saw 10 Popmart shows, mostly on the first leg, as well as 15 Vertigo shows. Popmart was an excellent show - not U2's best, but excellent. During the first 1-2 months, U2 was forced to re-model the set a little to gain flow. Once they axed/abridged some of the weaker Pop tunes and added a...

where to stay in honolulu at this point

Well, I have plane tickets, rental car, and concert tickets for Honolulu, but I can't find a place to stay on the night of December 9. Just found out about this marathon business. Does anyone have any idea where I should look to find shelter? Nothing fancy, just a roof over our (three of us)...

which song or songs will close the concerts in the next tour?

It was good to see "40" again after a long while but I wouldn't be disappointed to see it go. I certainly don't think it's the band's best closer. To me, Bad would win that contest any day. Same level of sentimentality as 40, but as the band's masterpiece it really puts an exclamation mark...

Elevation vs. Vertigo...which is the better tour?

And same for Peace On Earth - it was played in equal proportion to the amount of New Years Day that gets played. sv

Elevation vs. Vertigo...which is the better tour?

Regarding Wake Up Dead Man, at least 2 of the 3 verses (with subsequent chorus) were played at several shows. That's the same as New Years Day (last verse has never been played live as far as I know), but I don't see anyone saying that should be removed. So as far as I'm concerned, Wake Up...

    Best show so far?

I thought Bono was rather frustrated on 10/8 because the audience was not quite as responsive. I think that partly explains why he vented at that fan with a cellphone during Sunday Bloody Sunday. I think that rather unprofessional outburst then further diminished his rapport with part of the...

Elevation vs. Vertigo...which is the better tour?

Both tours are really outstanding, but I'd still vote Elevation: 1. Both shows rocked, but there was more "soul" on Elevation. People routinely cried during Elevation shows, even before 9-11 - the acoustic set was really superb. Fall Leg of Vertigo is better than Spring, but I don't find it...

    Best show so far?

I've seen 14 this year - 7 Sping and 7 Fall - my 2 cents: Best - Spring Leg: Boston 5/28 Best - Fall Leg: Chicago 9/20 = New York 10/10 = New York 10/14 I thought 10/8 was easily the worst of the 5 New York shows - which just goes to show how subjective this is. I've been very pleased...

Bono favored to win the Nobel Peace Prize

Well, sort of a rarified air . . . joins Yasir Arafat, lots of other political leaders who have all kinds of sordid histories of mass murder . . . that said, it would certainly be great if Bono won. Though I seriously doubt he will win.

I'm confused....I thought Crumbs was played in Milwaukee

Oh I see. I continue to be surprised, but fantastic for the Minneapolis crowd. Hopefully we'll see it in NYC - I would think so.

I'm confused....I thought Crumbs was played in Milwaukee

No wonder - I was shocked when I saw Crumbs on the Milwaukee setlist. It never really made sense that U2 would debut a song in Milwaukee - right after Chicago and right before Boston. That's just not the way U2 operates.

MERGED->Bad reviews of U2's concert in Chicago+Chicago dinosaur writers rip u2,again

KUEFC09U2, I don't know what your past experiences have been on this board, but let's be clear that I did not "slam" you. It's truly ridiculous to get "irritated" by anything you read here. Anyone can read my posts and see that there are no personal slights. You're making this debate much more...

MERGED->Bad reviews of U2's concert in Chicago+Chicago dinosaur writers rip u2,again

I disagree. I thought Kot's review was very insightful, although I agree the title (the term dinosaur, in particular) went too far. Kot is very human, and the questions he asked in the interview are the exact questions that needed to be asked to U2. He gave Bono a more-than-fair chance to...

    Favorite/Best Show on this Tour

MERGED->Bad reviews of U2's concert in Chicago+Chicago dinosaur writers rip u2,again

In terms of the Chicago writers, Kot of the Tribune has always been very pro-U2 so I don't think he has an axe to grind. However (as can be seen in his May 13 interview with Bono), he strongly favors the more cutting-edge creativity of prior U2 work. In a sense, although I much prefer hearing...

Anybody know why they always play the same songs?

In a recent interview, a band member (think it was Adam but I'm not sure) talked about how early in its career, U2 was tagged as being technically subpar in terms of the ability of the individual band members to play their instruments. The band member stated that to overcome that vulnerability...
