Sir Bono: the Knight Who Fled From His Own Debate

I think Bono should have gone through with the debate, since he proposed it in the first place. But who knows why he changed his mind? Maybe he had good reason for doing so. What bothers me more is the disrepect he showed during Mwenda's speech. I've always thought of Bono as someone who was...

U2 being accused of robbing the poor

I don't think the protesters have harmed their cause at all. I'm sure they didn't protest because they personally want a bigger share of U2's income. They work with the poor and their protest shows a commitment to helping the poor that I'm sure even Bono would admire if he weren't the target! A...

    Is u2 relevant Today

I think this is a weird question because something doesn't have to have relevance in the culture to be relevant to you. I think U2 only get these questions about their relevance because some of their earlier albums were said to capture the "spirit of the times". In that sense, U2 probably aren't...

Bono called Chris Martin a wanker...

The media are probably only making a big deal out of this whole thing because Bono isn't known for saying stuff like this. It may have been a "joke", but I really can't see why Bono would find it so funny to call someone who has openly been a huge U2 fan a "wanker" and a "dysfunctional cretin"...

Is anyone having doubt after hearing "Boots"

After hearing "Boots"...I can tell that the song will probably never be one of my favs. But it's different from the previous 2 albums, and I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of NLOTH. One thing I'm kind of worried about, though, is that I'm afraid U2 may have changed their sound just for...

    A Sort of Homecoming

My favourite song off The Unforgettable Fire  It's just such an... un-forced song that flows really naturally and the images are beautiful. I agree that it's magic. I get sick of some of U2's 80s songs, but never this one.

    U2 @ the 2009 Grammy Awards

It's not a huge thing for me, but I don't like the guyliner on Bono either. For one thing, it just doesn't suit the clothes he's wearing, as some others have said. If he dressed differently, maybe he'd be able to carry it off better... Also, Bono's look, in the past, has reflected the music. I...

Mother of octuplets already had six kids

I wonder why she didn't think of her kids' "need to connect" - how will she be able to maintain a close relationship with each of her 14 children - especially when she has a special needs child that she will have to give extra attention to? I think that she thought of her own "needs" but gave no...

Mother of octuplets already had six kids

The kids are the real victims. But from what I understand, they will be taken care of by the government. I think this is far better than the mother receiving sponsorships and gifts from big companies: the kids would get what they need without the mother getting the publicity she probably craves...

Mother of octuplets already had six kids

If Oprah pays her $2 million, or whatever amount the woman is after, for selling her story, I won't be watching Oprah for a long time. I hope she uses any money she earns off her babies for paying her medical bill. It seems that having 8 babies and endangering her life and the babies' was...

Songs you'd like to hear on the next tour

Gone, One Tree Hill, Last Night on Earth, Dirty Day, Stay, Mofo, A Celebration. Songs I wouldn't like to hear: Elevation, Pride, Sunday Bloody Sunday.

    I "heart" POP

Pop is one of my most-played albums, nevermind U2 albums. It annoys me that U2 always seem to diss the album, saying they did not have time to "finish" it etc etc. I'm GLAD they didn't have time to finish it. :D

Bono's inner circle condemns the Mail's sleazy bikini spin

Ah, not to be rude, and I'm sure this topic has probably run its course anyway, but why should it be locked? It seems like people here are discussing articles that appeared in the press about Bono in a civil manner. Is it not okay to discuss stuff in pleba unless it's drooling over the guys or...

Bono's inner circle condemns the Mail's sleazy bikini spin

The girls weren't just fans Bono met on the beach. One stated on Facebook that Bono and Simon (?) were in town and had called her so they "might have a plan". She also told the press she'd known Bono for years and they were friends. So I don't think it's the same situation as just bumping into...

How will Bono find what he's looking for in this enormous bedroom?

I don't see how house plans can be so private. Bono doesn't hate the environment - didn't he support some campaign to shut down some nuclear power station? I'm sure it must be an eco-friendly extension, or Ali wouldn't let it go ahead

Ali Hewson: ethics girl ...Great article!

Ahh, but she is still stunning even with the few lines. The reason I think she would make a good president is actually because she has not been a minister or anything like that. I don't know how Ireland's political system works, but it seems to me that Ali would be a "people's president" -...

    32,000 scientists agree...

This just goes to show how hard it is to conclusively prove any theory. We can have strong evidence, however. In my opinion, it would be pretty stupid to ignore what evidence we do currently have on man-made global warming, even though this evidence is by no means conclusive.

Ali Hewson: ethics girl ...Great article!

The photo does look airbrushed. But if they airbrushed it, they needn't have - she looks great without it. I like everything Ali stands for. It would be pretty cool if she could be the Irish president some day - she could definitely carry it off!

Al Gore Wants to Make a Sequel

That sounds simple enough. But there are debates about whether nuclear power really is "safe". I live in New Zealand, where we won't even touch nuclear power. We rely on hydro-power for most of our electricity.

Al Gore Wants to Make a Sequel

Global warming will have the most impact on the poor. Drought, extreme weather patterns and rising sea levels will impact the most on "third world" countries. And starvation is likely to cause more wars. Have you heard of the food riots in various parts of the world lately? I don't undertand...

Is it unfair to expect another truly great U2 album?

I agree that the quality of Bono's range has declined. However, in my opinion, there's something indefineable about Bono's voice that makes it more impressive to me than it was during the late '80s, when it was much more powerful and more perfect technically (in my opinion). I think his voice is...

Over 400 Prominent Scientists Dispute Man-Made Global Warming

The man-made global warming sceptics seem to think that just because it can't *conclusively* be proved that humans are contributing significantly to global warming, or just because it is possible to find other explanations for the warming, we shouldn't worry too much about it. This seems like...

(12-04-2007) Bono: New U2 album will be extraordinary*

Hmmm, interesting. I'm not going to expect to much this time, though! I wish Bono would stop talking about how he and U2 are so punk rock. In my opinion, U2's music has held no resemblance to punk rock for a while now. It is funny to me that Bono only started talking constantly about how punk...

Every 2 Weeks, A Language Dies

I agree it may be inevitable that languages spoken by relatively small groups of people will die out, without intervention. I'm not sure how this is not necessarily a bad thing, though. If tradition, culture and the separate identity of different groups in society are important, so is language...
