Edge - guitar heroics in Rotterdam 1990

I love on the Chicago DVD when he starts going a bit nuts during the solo for "Electric Co." Wow.

    Questions on Streets

I have two questions. FIrst, what are the general chord progressions in the verses and choruses? Second, any tips on how to play it would be good. It's pretty tricky, actually, the whole strummed 16th notes thing. Thank you, Andrew

guitar expert's help if u can?

The CS-3 is a Compressor/Sustainer. Nice pedal. I'm pretty sure they still make them. But, I wouldn't be able to tell you how old they are.

    Edge's Guitars

"Love and Peace or Else - Silver Sparkle Variax 700 Acoustic" Maybe on tour, but on record, according to the recent Guitar World article he used an old Gibson J-200 in the verses and solo.

    Why 2 of everything?

He also usually runs a stereo setup of Vox AC-30s. I assume that, for example, one 2290 would be used for one amp, and the other would be used for the other.

Staring At The Sun (Live during Elevation)

000000= Em11? Em or Em7 would be better, they sound more "solid".

Very cool program. I enjoy using it to "visit" far off and exotic locales. :) Andrew

    Chime

Edge's tone comes down to a variety of factors, including guitars, amps, compressors, delay, modulation, and EQ, just to name a couple things. The picks may have a slight impact, but do not expect to sound "chimey" like the Edge (I'm assuming you mean songs like "Where The Streets Have No Name,"...

    Lemon Vocal

"A man makes a picture, a moving picture Through light projected he can see himself up close A man captures colour, a man likes to stare He turns his money into light to look for her" What is going here vocally in this and other simillar parts? It doesn't sound anything like Bono, or Edge. Did...

What pedal do you think can nail Edge's vertigo tone?

In the article he says he used a blue 60's tele with a bigsby bridge for the studio vertigo, fyi.

    Edge Guitar World Mag Cover!!!

I thought it was a British mag. It's damn expensive ($15-20) here in Canada, but I'll probably get this issue.

The simplest guitar questions (cause I'm useless)

I don't know what I was thinking when I said you could use scissors. :)

What pedal do you think can nail Edge's vertigo tone?

Damn you for proving me wrong! :) LOL I think it just needs a good bit of tele twang, that's about it. Still think he's using a 72 thinline in the video, though.

The simplest guitar questions (cause I'm useless)

Don't be shy, we won't kill you. :) In regards to replacing strings, you might want to replace the whole set because they might be pretty corroded, and as a result, they probably sound pretty dead. Changing strings is pretty easy. 1. Buy a new set of strings. For beginners, start with a light...
