Songs of Surrender - Discussion, reviews, impressions

An inspired pick, and this song, to me, is a perfect example of a song that was never fully realised on the recorded version on Pop. The whole thing sounds dreary to me with absolutely no energy, but at the same time, man I can tell the song is there. I'd love to hear a different version of this...

Songs of Surrender - Discussion, reviews, impressions

Fair enough. Not sure I'd say I dislike the album, more a case of just underwhelmed by it. Like I said, most of it feels like a Bono and The Edge project more than a U2 project, but I guess I can still find pleasure chilling out to some of these versions from time to time.

Songs of Surrender - Discussion, reviews, impressions

So, even though there are some positive for me, I was overall disspointed with Songs Of Surrender. Before anyone jumps at me for having a 'negative take', I want to just remind all that this is only my opinion, it won't hurt you, and differing opinions make the world more interesting anyway. I...

New Album Discussion 10 - Songs of Sir, this is a Wendy's, durr

I'm going to wait until my physical copy in the post in the next day or 2. But from the short clips on youtube so far, Red Hill Mining Town is by far the best. By far.

    Newark Setlist Open Thread

I keep lurking here to look at the setlists in hope that they bring Horses back, but to still no avail :( How can U2 mis-treat such a beautiful song??? Teasing it on social media and then playing it on the opening night, only to drop it, is in a way more disappointing than them not playing it...

    Las Vegas #2 Setlist Party

I feel the same when the band talk about WGRYWH. Played at the first show only, then dropped. After playing it, Bono says "Thanks for your patience". Left off the best of 90-00, and didn't even get any of its b-sides included on the b-sides disc, even when every other single of that decade...

    Las Vegas #1 Setlist Party

Have there ever been any U2 songs that were only played just once during an entire tour? Just I'm worried about Horses never returning again :(

    St. Louis Setlist Party

One of their greatest songs WGRYWH is finallly played, and yet dropped after 1 show?! What is wrong with U2, if they have to drop something, don't drop this gem, it's always getting the short end of the stick and I'm fed up with this always being the case.

Songs of Experience 37 - now with bonus orchestra

Just out of curiosity, how did they handle the kendrick lamar preach for radio?

What's the best way to compare the chart performance of every U2 single?

Yeah that's what I meant, it's hard to compare all the singles when the charts change throughout time in general. If anyone can work out a chart like you said, that would be great. Personally I have no clue how to even begin with that, hence starting this thread, to see if there is any way.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess GOOYOW just failed to chart here then (uk)

What's the best way to compare the chart performance of every U2 single?

Yes but the format of the charts have dramatically changed have they not?

What's the best way to compare the chart performance of every U2 single?

I always liked to compare what numbers each U2 single got to in the UK charts, but tragically, the uk charts have completely changed. From War onwards, U2 easily made the top 20 in the uk with every single. And then came NLOTH, and since then, their uk chart positions have gotten worse and...
