U2 Have Rescheduled Their Cancelled Tonight Show Visit For Next Week

Wow, that Angel performance is the first time I've grinned like an idiot through something U2 in... a very very long time.

Straya thread part 5 - scallops and slippery dips

Some perspective from the UK here, in terms of some of the local... optics - Miliband is generally well liked, but could never shake the 'not a leader' stigma. Labour always came across as a little too needy/desperate vs. Tories just doubling down and being firm. Labours mooted alliance with SNP...

SOI autopsy - what went wrong?

Holy hell, what a misread. I'm not much of an ATYCLB fan, but it was actually new for them (return of certain sounds aside), was even experimental for them. And if you read quotes from Bono at the time, I think they were OF COURSE reacting to Pop in a calculated way, but he was also talking...

SOI autopsy - what went wrong?

U2 are in a position now where I think that they are always starting from a negative. People - in general - just aren't open to liking them these days. Before they've heard a note, they're primed to dislike it. And it's lazy to assign that to age. I'm in my late 30's, was a teenager in the 90s...

    Possible Directions for U2

Songs of Experience. Do wonder what will happen there. As with Songs of Ascent, they talked about it at a time when they were full of confidence in the new album, and with some assumptions (or at least hope) that it's reception would go a certain way. The No Line follow up idea shifted and then...

    Album that Created your Fandom!

First on my radar: Rattle & Hum. Sold: Achtung Baby. Actually really was The Fly. The single was actually released on my 13th birthday, and I guess that's the age where you are just ready for a song or album to really grab you and... oh, MUSIC. The Fly leading to Achtung was that for me. For a...

    Other U2s play SoI

To me The Troubles sits a bit beyond Pop, probably comfortable (if not really 'the same') alongside Ground Beneath/Stateless. That to me is the sound of an alternate universe U2, a comfortable and mature natural progression forward from everything before, if U2 weren't !!!!!U2!!!!! and all the...

    Guy Oseary, Madonna, U2

Is everyone serious? Bono might have sweet talked Tim Cook, but that deal would have gone through Oseary, Iovine and a fucking army of lawyers.

"All the world will denounce the SONY."

Obama overall is obviously completely right, but not about the studios position, which is pretty silly, including saying 'they should have talked to me', when before he gave that opinion perhaps someone should have talked to them. Again (as Sony Pictures chief Michael Lynton has been out and...

"All the world will denounce the SONY."

Combo of this + Mrs Garrison above, but still some TBC there.

"All the world will denounce the SONY."

They had absolutely no choice in regards to pulling it from theatres, and the current 'no release anywhere' (digital, subscription, DVD etc) suggestion I would say is still actually TBC, for a couple of reasons. It's really not Sony 'bowing to terrorists'. Yet.

"All the world will denounce the SONY."

    Wrong on all counts

"All the world will denounce the SONY."

Pascal might go, Lynton will be fine, nothing will happen for a while yet.
