I think "mostly spineless" would be the best way to describe Pence. I think he just went along with a lot of things and was afraid to speak up until the very end where it hit his threshold.

yeah, and the crux of my argument back then was that this new thing was quite different from italian and classic 20th century european fascism, and it should instead be called Trumpism.
over the last 5 or so years though i realize old sinclair lewis was right - it's the exact same damn thing, just wrapped in the stars and stripes and carrying a cross.

Anywhere on this scale is bad news for our country. We are really hanging on by a thread as Mitch blocked so many Obama judges and filled them under Trump administration
We are going to be one election away from falling into authoritarian rule for generations. It’s why even a Christie or Haley presidency would still harm us, just further down the road.
Tho I’m not sure how much longer the road goes on considering the climate is burning it up

Pence was admittedly a bad choice... but ultimately when it was time to stop the cosplay and go full fascism, he backed off.
With time to think - I do believe my point was technically correct in a "all snakes are reptiles but not all reptiles are snakes" kinda way - but ultimately my point does not matter so long as the remaining Republicans continue to either support and/or not condone the obvious fascist behavior of the current GOP presumptive nominee.

Yep, and the solution here is to chip away one by one. Christie, NH's governor, etc. It's possible, just need more if them to grow spines and step up.
