You know how sometimes songs get popular on the radio and they're amended with a longer title? Parentheses are used, and the words contained in the parentheses are lyrics from the chorus or hook so that people listening can more easily identify the song because the song's original title has little to do with the lyrical content?

For example, Escape (The Pina Colada Song) and others:

Or even in cases similar to these songs?:

Maybe the majority of Bono's parentheses were stolen long ago with the original October lyric notebook and his brevity was lost when he crashed his bike.

You forgot "Get Out Of Your Own Way" as Bono talked about in the article.

"Lincolns ghost says get out of your own way". Cringe

Bono is going for the gold with awful quotables this album.

I feel the literal political time stamp on parts of this album will ruin some songs for me.

That's cringeworthy? I get that it's not platinum edged lyrical brilliance but I think some people are just looking for things to cringe at. As ever how the lyric is delivered will judge whether it's good or bad.

The lyrics quoted from GOOYOW (well.. hey great acronym at least) are kinda really bad, up there with the best of the worst of the post POP era.

Fair enough, it is only two songs that touch the (ugh...) "subject" so far, but, I hope we are not seeing another record like Depeche Mode's Spirit which also had such an obvious hamfisted and often really terrible lyrical lean re: Donaldism and it's ilk :tsk:.

Besides... it'll be so dated during the impeachment proceedings :sexywink:.

Can we not do the whole taking lyrics out of context and proclaiming them bad without hearing the songs either. When Bono read out almost all of Little Things, this place went nuts on how bad it was. Now we’ve heard it live, it is one of his best lyrics in decades

New info regarding a B side to SOE:

Bono opens up about the wealth of songs they have written for a double album

With Songs of Experience, in particular side A, we decided to look back at what we had done, measure the current political climate, and produce more joyful songs for these darker times.

Side B, the songs represent how we really feel, the fire in the belly we have always had so to speak.

Whilst we can't go into the songs in great detail, that will be a suprise for the fans, we can say we hear you, this side is songs we want to write, regardless if they make the radio or not, or even if they alienate some long time fans and supporters.

One of the songs is inspired by Bullet The Blue Sky, angry guitar and lyrics, Edge and Larry being aggressive, Edge's solo is the best he has done since Joshua Tree.

Another, one of my favorites, starts at a dark place and builds momentum throughout, finishing with an explosive chorus, Bad would be the best comparison.

One of these may be the single to kick off the album, we're still working that out.

Where is this from?

Also there is a difference between a "b-side" and "Side B". Without getting into semantics, in this day and age the former is a non-album track/ bonus track, while the latter is what is commonly used to refer to the second half of a record.

Chris Evans' dealer confirms this rumor.

Dude, you do know we are all waiting anxiously for any tidbit of information regarding the new album right? So if you are going to write fake shit up, atleast write somewhere in your message, that this would be your wish list or that it's a joke. Don't pass it as real info or else people will think you are a troll.
Ps: and if by the very very remote possibility that this may be legit (which I know it isn't) a link would be much appreciated.

I would have thought the fake link gave it away. Emotions are very high today it seems. You should know by now, that U2 is no more.
