I thought you just hated bands that had women singers ... does that now include foreign singers? What does that mean for your U2 fandom? I worry.

Do you also hate the band Foreigner, by default?

Wait. I thought Bono was American.

I order from them a lot. Sometimes things go wrong, they're really good about making them right.

Yeah, amazon is great. If it's within their power to get me the set on release day, they'll do it. My only concern is that it's out of their control now (ie, they don't have enough in stock). Time will tell!

American Express just rang to say there's been an attempt at fraud on my card - apparently someone called "Amazon" tried to charge 250 pounds for "goods".

Errrm...has Amex never heard of Amazon?! Now my Uber version is delayed

Quick question: Is there a "normal" vinyl version, like they had for the other remasters/reissues? I remember them announcing something along those lines, but I can't find anything on Amazon.

Amazon will certainly refund the shipping, and maybe another $5, if its a day late. They have great customer service policies.

This. Amazon's customer service is top notch.

They have to release a "BABY" version of NLOTH and by that I mean the version they were going to release before Jay Z and friends opened their mouths and sent them on the path to hitsville. Look at what hanging with Jay Z did to the latest Coldplay album. And I liked all of their albums up until this monstrosity.

I bet if you were a pirate and had your own bay, you could get all six discs for free in CD quality FLAC files. Just sayin' :hmm:

I'm going to listen to the Zooropa remaster first just to fuck with y'all. Peace.

as a side note, i had something similar happen to me when i went to the gold coast. i spent maybe $50 at sea world over three transactions, and they froze my card. i even freaking told them i would be in australia, and they still freaked out over $50.

more on topic, re: this remastered debate, someone brought up a new thread being made for it. that's certainly fine by me, the discussion's allowed of course, but as many have said it can take over the thread. so yeah :)

 What the heck? That's quite the epic fail there.

I respectfully disagree about the newishness. The guitar was known as 'montgomery's vist' or 'goin down south' on the Salome outtakes, and I am sure Brian and Danny are in the backing vocals. Bonos vocals, well I could go either way, but they had no need at all to record them again, and the lyrics sound like a sketch

This is correct. Way back in this thread I mentioned the 'Montgomery's Visit' (where did that name come from???) reference. This was a purely instrumental take...kind of an 'improv' recording. I always liked it though and was VERY surprised to hear it make an appearance on 'baby' TTTYAATW.

The vocal is obviously from the original sessions...again, it's an 'improv' vocal...borne out by the lyrical improvisation that breaks down with the 'cabbage' lyric. If this was a new vocal...why would it include a clearly improvised section???

Anyone have any news on what the download content is that you get a code for with the Uber set? And are these codes generic or unique to each box?

To all of you in the US...I'm listening to Talk 1300 AM Radio on my internet radio and hearing all the news about the snowfall in the east. I really hope all of you are okay and surviving this freak weather? I heard many people have no power.

Take care and try to stay warm:wave:

It's positively 'balmy' here in the UK...very mild!

I agree with you. After more and more listens, I am convinced that TTTYAATW is NOT a 2011 recording.
Here's the same guitar on the "Baby" version, but from the Hansa recordings:

U2 "GOING DOWN SOUTH" from THE COMPLETE HANSA TON RECORDINGS BERLIN 1991 (audio only) - YouTube

And here's Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World from the Hansa recordings, just for laughs. Bono's voice is

No, I don't believe it would have been edited.

The one on Showtime was 90 minutes. We can check the length of the DVD, but I would be really surprised if there's any difference between the two.

RE: amazon, my order now says "shipping soon." Whew! I'm guessing they'll either ship it today (Sunday) or upgrade it to overnight and ship tomorrow. Amazon rocks.

So far he AB re-release has spawned heated discussions on "remastering", "bono's vocals", "is the baby version better than the final product", deepaks true identity, amazon's shipping practices, job outsourcing and has called into question some folks mentality and intelligence.
I can't wait for the R&H remaster thread. What discussions will we have there.
Seriously this shit is better than a soap opera.
