From the Sky Down, Davis Guggenheim's Achtung Baby documentary to premiere at TIFF

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Ahhhhhh I want to see this soooo bad....

.....but no Showtime....

:sad::sad::sad::sad:

seriously, feel like crying right now. Especially after seeing that trailer. Gave me chills. Looks like an incredible film.

Could anyone save the trailer from youtube and upload to rapidshare, mediafire, etc, for us international fans?

One of the interviewers mentions U2BROTHR, and Bono acknowledges it and says "Oh yes, Mark" or something to that affect! Very cool indeed!

I just got back from the Red carpet at TIFF. Not usually my scene but when the lads are in town, I can't say no.

They showed up at 7:30 in separate SUVs and came out and signed autographs, posed for pictures. They must have spent half an hour talking to fans and talking to press. Here are some photos and I included the two which are in the main TIFF cinema which are life size photos hanging on a wall. I am pretty sure they are from the Freedom of Dublin March 2000 event.

TIFF 11'

Tickets were not open to the public.

So it's confirmed B and E only. Looks like you got pretty close, especially to Edge. COngrats

Anyone know of a transcript of the Q&A session with Bono and Edge???

I'd love to read the answers to some of the more...interesting...questions

Reviews coming in...

From The Sky Down | Review | Screen
"While the Dublin bred U2 have had enviable success and endurance in contemporary music the band’s cinematic excursions have been at best spotty. The latest, From The Sky Down, is a confused hash of history and musical philosophy that comes close to jeopardising whatever good will the band have accrued with fans over three decades."

Variety Reviews - From the Sky Down - Toronto Film Fest Reviews - - Review by Rob Nelson
"In some ways even better than the real thing, that being U2's pivotal LP "Achtung Baby" from 20 years ago, Davis Guggenheim's making-of-the-album docu "From the Sky Down" takes an enjoyably novel approach to rock stars known for their fine-tuned products, focusing on the awkwardly embryonic growth of artistic and interpersonal elements that resulted in a classic disc."

"While we do see and hear some raw experimentation during the creation of some of their classic tunes, there is still a shell of protection around the band that Guggenheim never cracks. It's a shame because I find documentaries about the creation of art immensely fascinating. Unfortunately, From the Sky Down never goes as deep as the Bruce Springsteen doc The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town or the Metallica doc Some Kind of Monster. This is for U2 fans only."

TIFF Lightbox

So does anyone know if Bono and The Edge will be "making an appearance" outside the TIFF Lightbox today? Is the twitter thing really going to be held at the Lightbox? Would it be worth going?

"Mysterious Way". What a douche...

Anyone know when it comes to TIFF if the stars attend all the showings of the movie? My tickets for this movie are for next Sat - really hoping but more than likely they won't. Unless Adam and Larry decide to show up :hyper:
