No matter how many times I hear it, see it live, see it on youtube...no matter how theyve led into it with segues ir where theyve put it in the setlist....

This sound haunts me and will till I die. It moves me, sends chills up my spine and chokes me up everytime I hear it.

I just feel blessed to be part of the generation that grew up with this genius. Noone even comes close anymore.

 Definitely agree. That song has some strange magic shite goin' on there. NEVER bores, and chills every time I hear the organ.

Ah yes..."The Fly from the Bad Streets of One Tree Hill will Surrender on the 4th of July with Ultraviolet Wire In God's Country"

Love that song. :D

I don't know if I could pick a second-favorite live U2 song. The Fly, UTEOTW, COBL, and EBTTRT are all up there, though.

Haven't actually seen Bad in person, so I'm not counting it.

If we're talking about Streets here...

I recently went to my first U2 show ever (better than nothing), and as soon as that organ started, so many emotions went through me throughout the song, mostly "Am I really listening to this live?" Just incredible. One song that I will never get tired of.

..and then comes my second favorite live song, Until The End Of The World - which is just epic live.

It's true, there is absolutely nothing that beats the experience of Streets live. It's magic---the band, 70,000 people, and you are all swept up in such a swell of emotional release all at the same time together. Bad, One Tree Hill, and a handful of other songs blow you away, but none truly match Bono's description of 'God walking through the room.'

It is the best song ever written in my opinion. And that's the studio version. Somehow the live version manages to be about eight trillion times better as well. I almost bemoan it being performed as much as I look forward to it, that's how draining it is.

Nothing comes close to Streets live. Though UTEOTW is my second favourite live song, it's still WAY below Streets.

I have no idea what song Gabe's talking about, but mentioning The Edge would make me think UTEOW. Whatever, if he doesn't want to say that's cool, gives more room for us to say which songs we think are best live (Ultra Violet).

But as for Streets, I actually found myself a little bored by it at the Chicago show. Now, I was out of sorts during that show, but I was shocked as I'm sure you are reading this that I wasn't completely losing it while it was playing. I don't know why the change. Hopefully by the next time I get the opportunity to see them my opinion will have changed.

Did they fuck up the intro? Because of the three shows I saw, only the Brisbane show did Streets let me down, because they didn't elongate the intro.

I don't really remember now. I think it was more that I was completely out of it by that point and since that part of the setlist was more stagnant than a pool of 20 year old water, I felt myself growing antsy.

must disagree with you and many other "Streets" devotees....

oh I used to really love it: of course live is where they live so seeing/hearing it live......was even better
but shockingly I was somewhat bored of it on the Elevation , maybe more so Vertigo tour.
It just never was in my top 5 U2 songs ever...

i did enjoy it more again in 09 NJ both nights and now '11 Phily & NJ

Give me UTEOTW / COBL/ IGC / NLOTH < in some ways the opening dynamics on this song are better in the studio - the relatively quiet buzzing start rising in volume that suddenly is exploded by the slam of the storm (near :faint:) of sounds/notes that come next before bono jumps in > / EBTTRT / Acrobat / Zooropa / Breathe .......

...... for dynamics/ melodies/ guitars/ vocals/ atmospherics/ beats/ lyrics that--
will stay with me always!

Bad/UTEOTW/MW are their best live songs.

MW being *the* older song that stole the show at 360 in Zagreb.

I actually think the current version of Mysterious Ways is one of the best live versions of this song they've ever done, short solo or not, but it is simply amazing and Bono's so much into it. I'd never been a real fan of that song before, but after seeing it live I came to the conclusion that it's an abolute highlight of the show. I never get bored with it.

Oh, we're talking about Streets here, all right.

Yes I'm talking about Streets, for the record.

All those other songs you mentioned, great tracks, yay, wonderful. I agree they are amazing. But they aren't Streets imo. Streets is on another level altogether, it's the creme de la creme of The U2 Sound. Alot of that has to do with The Edge and Larry imo. Bono after, and Adam's recent little additions during the chorus bring it to a new level also.

The current version of MW can't hold a candle to even the worse version of Streets, sorry. Shortened MW is one of my least favorite songs in the current setlist.

Someone mentioned UTEOTW. I actually only really really enjoy The Edge on this track to be honest. When he launches into that solo..especially live..I will readily agree, this is a shining moment for him and just amazing.

They could get me with Zooropa...if they'd just play the full version..but as it is it's also amazing.

But none of them LIFT me, move me, affect me, elate me and exhaust me...the way Streets does and always will.
