By the way, for everyone coming to the gathering tonight (don't forget!) the people running the line are allowing the check-ins to be plus or minus an hour. I personally plan to check in at 6 p.m. to make it downtown on time at 7 p.m.

We'll be there damn close to 7 (maybe just before), so we'll watch for you and everyone.

Have a safe trip Mark.

k this GA line is the BIGGEST clusterfuck I've ever seen. Fuck this shit, I'm soundboarding. I want to sightsee and not ruin my vacation by checking in every four hours. I hope Toronto isn't this insane!!

For those seeing this that are coming to the forum meetup tonight: We actually figured out that we can go to the U23D showing at 10.30 pm at the Science Centre with everybody. Anyone wanna join us? :D

I don't think this GA line system is a clusterfuck (certainly not yet). But I do agree that you should not ruin a vacation by being in line all the time. Enjoy Montreal. Have fun!

I'm starting the GA line for Toronto already. You have to sign up in Cleveland right now at the airport, check in every 4 hours in Montreal and during the first encore of each MTL U2 show downtown at the Westin. Who's in?

:p

Lining up on the day of the show is staying in line all day with only small breaks for bathroom/food.

Please explain. What is this business about checking in every 4 hours that everyone is talking about? You acknowledged that as well in the post above this one, but then you reply to me saying that only small breaks are allowed.

Can anyone please explain to me: do we only have to check in every 4 hours, or do we have to wait all day? Sorry to sound like a broken record, but I still don't understand.

I think that sounds fair. Sign me up!

Im already in the Toronto line.

Show up. Get a number. Get in line. You may leave for short bathroom and food breaks of no more than a hr. If you go off for hrs on end to go sightseeing, attend fan gatherings, sleep on a comfy hotel bed, etc etc...you will forfeit your spot in line.

You know, the way its normally done.

From what I understand, at the moment (as in, the day before the show) the policy is to check in every 4 hours or so. But this will probably change tomorrow morning (the day of the 1st show). By then, with many people arriving all the time, you'll probably be expected to stay in line all day. Short breaks for bathroom/food excluded of course. :)

My advice? Go join the line when you feel ready to join it (with the expectation to be there until after the show). If it's your first GA line, just experience it. Don't worry too much.

Anything more relaxed is just a bonus. Not the standard.
(And lining up so far in advance is still ridiculous :D )

I'm leaving sometime today. I won't be lining up until the AM. Hopefully it isn't to hot.

I'm still riding the wave of the awesomeness of Chicago.

Gearing up for show #27 of all time for me.

What will the boys play in MTL?

Hopefully they will have a few surprises for us. They haven't been here since 2005.

hi all - not sure if this has been answered yet...but does anyone know if some or all of the GA line will be under some shade? Is it nearer to the Wal-Mart or the Hippodrome building? i'm thinking of bringing a patio or golf umbrella if there's no shade...

Pretty convenient that there's a Walmart there! No need to pack a cooler or anything, especially since it woulda been with Walmart stuff anyways lmao. I think Walmart in Quebec even sells beer, do they not? :mac: How close is it, anyways?

I just gotta comment on this.... how can you (and the others on this list) be in line for the Friday AND Saturday show?? THat is just ridiculous. This will cause problems when people show up during the show Friday to get in line for Saturday. Then the Friday show lets out and all these people put on a list for Saturday while they are attending the Friday show will clash with those that line up during Friday's show for Saturday. You cannot physically be in two lines at once. I clearly remember this being a problem during the last Jersey shows where two lists were started, one by those attending the first show and the other by those who skipped the first to line up for the second. It was not a pretty sight when the two groups met after the first show let out.
Just saying . . .

Agree 100%!!! I am going to ONLY the Saturday show, but I will be getting to the stadium on Friday morning to line up for the second show (yes, I will be sitting outside the stadium during the first show). Are the people running the line for both shows going to expect that when I arrive on Friday, I will join the end of their list for the second show, and be behind hundreds of people who are going to be inside during the first show??? I am sacrificing the first show to get in line for the second, and it is simply unfair that those at the first show will be in front of me.

Can someone pleease defend the logistics of the current plan? If this system stands, I wil plan on starting my own list on friday morning for those who are only going to the second show. Then those inside can join when they get out of the first show, in order of when they get there. If they want to be at the top of the list for second show, then they will have to haul it out of th stadium when the show ends. Sorry, I don't like to cause GA drama, but the current system is simply unfair to those going only to the Saturday show.
