Joe Morgan can't even bring himself to acknowledge that Jaso leads off for Tampa because of his high OBP. No, it's because "he has great base running instincts". Fuck off already.

Hawk Jr., I really like Alexi Ramirez at SS, very smooth....hope he learns a little plate discipline going forward. He and Beckham turned a few nifty double plays.

Yeah, Nova looked good...I think Girardi got him out of there just in the nick of time...he looked tired and his mechanics were starting to lapse. No idea why Davidson ran Guillen in the 8th....Gardner was safe, so Guillen had no real beef but I was at a loss as to why he was given the heave-ho.

The great irony about Joe Morgan's opposition to modern stats is that in his playing days, he was the perfect sabermetric player and was way ahead of his time. Excellent plate discipline. Stole lots of bases with a very low caught stealing percentage, etc.

I actually liked Morgan his first few years on Sunday Night Baseball. Thought he was pretty informative, was able to convey what a player was thinking in certain situations, would demonstrate small details, etc...now, what a train wreck.

And, yeah, he was a phenomenal ballplayer.....think his career OBP was just under .400 and over .100 points higher than his career BA, so the man definitely knew how to work a count, draw a walk, etc. Not a shabby 2nd baseman either. :)

Going to see the Phils/Dodgers game tonight.

Haven't been to Dodger Stadium all year, so I'm kind of excited, even if the playoff hopes around here are looking grim.

Are you going just to boo Shane Victorino? Apparently everyone in LA hates him.

I hate him because he's horribly impatient and has the baseball IQ of John Mayer, but that's probably not why LA hates him.

Marcus Thames is by far our best acquisition of the year. Guy is on a tear.

I was really on his case early on the year, but more for his outfield play at the time....but, yes, he's been a great acquisition....hope he can keep it up.

With Kearns now on the team, he doesn't need to get anywhere close to the outfield, as it should be. I wonder if he will DH against righties once Berkman is back.

He didn't need to play OF early on either....they were still fucking around with platooning Gardner now and then..... but, yeah, even less reason now. Thames should DH full time until he cools off, Berkman or no Berkman.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. All I remember was that OF Thames = disaster.

And hey, Javy is pitching well!

I couldn't care less about his hair but, of course, I'm following every development. Just because.

Apparently the very latest (as of like 20 minutes ago) is that he was shagging fly balls in the outfield and had yet to cut the dreads at all. Thrilling stuff, I know.

I'm a little bit disappointed that he's not in the lineup tonight but, what can you do? 100% he'll be in that bitch tomorrow.

The Cubs should have listened to Steve Stone's warnings, and maybe Prior wouldn't have such a damaged career.

It's unbelievable the amount of venom Stone has for the Cubs and their entire organization these days. I listen to the guy for two to three hours most every day, and any chance he gets he's right there with a snide comment about the Cubs. I don't know exactly how that relationship ended (just little tidbits), but they must have really done a number on him when he left.

I don't quite remember the deets myself, but I know it was quite the tumultuous ending.
