Once again, a snippet track that is never going to win is included, wasting our time.

the tourist 01-07-2008 07:52 PM

Poor Hunting Bears is gonna get slaughtered.

My favourites are Pyramid Song, Dollars & Cents, and Amnesiac.

Poor bears.

And I have a feeling Pulk/Pull won't last long even though that track is amazing!

phanan 01-07-2008 08:07 PM

Yeah, I'll be picking the obvious choice.

...which is what?? Do you realize that what you consider a waste of time could be of value to somebody else? I honestly don't know what song you are referring to... Pulk/Pull? I know somebody in this forum that loves Pulk/Pull to death. If you're so disappointed with this game, why don't you start your own? I don't hear anybody else complaining! lol

Oh great! Hunting Bears is gonna go first?

Hunting Bears >>>>> Dollars And Cents

Aygo 01-07-2008 08:12 PM

Who voted for "Pyramid Song"?!!!
"Pyramid Song" simply is the best song Radiohead ever composed and is one of the finest tunes of the present decade.

lazarus 01-07-2008 08:13 PM

Everyone else is happy to follow the herd and not complain.

Pulk/Pull is over 4 minutes long. It may not fit the conventional description of a song, but it's a full track. Hunting Bears is 2 minutes, and feels shorter. It's a segue. It's not going to last past the first round, and everyone knows it.

So why bother? Because we're anal completists. Let's get real.

You're right on the money--I don't think lethal injection for the perpetrator would be cruel or ununsual punishment here.

Zoots 01-07-2008 08:19 PM

Hunting Bears at least has some interesting jazzy instrumentation going. It's beautiful to my ears! Dollars and Cents is just boring.

LMP 01-07-2008 08:28 PM

Hunting Bear and Dollars and Cents need to go first.

Why Morning Bell has 2 votes, I will never know.

The thing is, you're picking an arbritary length of time at which a song becomes 'a full song'.

There are plenty of, say, Beatles songs that are only 2-2.5 minutes long and are as full as any song ever was.

joyfulgirl 01-07-2008 08:54 PM

I LOVE Dollars and Cents!! I assumed everyone else did, too. This game has been so revealing.

LMP 01-07-2008 09:00 PM

I'd want either Pyramid Song/I Might Be Wrong/You and Whose Army? or Life in a Glasshouse to go to the finals.

I doubt I Might Be Wrong and Life in a Glasshouse will though, even if they pwn the entire album.

No, it's the combination of the length of time and the failure of the track to manifest itself into anything very substantial.

There was no way Fitter, Happier was going to go past 1 or 2 rounds either, and it was eliminated in a fucking landslide. Treefingers suffered the same fate.

I believe that proves my point?

joyfulgirl 01-07-2008 09:01 PM

I voted Pulk/Pull. Had to start somewhere. :(

I like Hunting Bears.

But did it ever occur to you that some of us enjoy the discussion each song generates? That's part of the game.

But substantiality in pop music is subjective.

The point is that as soon as I omit even one song from the running, we no longer have the level playing field we started on. I feel that it is only fair that every song is given equal opportunity, even if this song or that is guaranteed an early elimination. This, I suppose, is where you and I disagree.

So what? Why so impatient? As joyful said, it's fun to talk about the song too while it is getting thrashed. lol. Besides, some people may not vote for the underdog! Did that ever occur to you? I love Hunting Bears however wrong I may be in your eyes. :madspit:

joyfulgirl 01-07-2008 09:13 PM

Anyway, I Might Be Wrong has to go next.

kidding

lazarus 01-07-2008 09:15 PM

You're the only one who's actually commented on Hunting Bears.

Not much of a discussion.

The interesting bit of these threads is when there's actually a dispute. In these early landslide rounds, you only get like one person piping up about how it's not THAT bad.

joyfulgirl 01-07-2008 09:18 PM

Well then please join us later when things become more interesting for you.

What I really want to know is what the people who dislike Dollars and Cents are smoking?

Zzzzzzz....

joyfulgirl 01-07-2008 09:35 PM

Maybe the problem is that they're not smoking anything.

Zoots 01-07-2008 09:38 PM

Voting for Hunting Bears in the first round of this survivor is like voting for 4th of July in the Unforgettable Fire survivor.

lazarus 01-07-2008 11:03 PM

The Forgettable 4th.

LemonMelon 01-07-2008 11:34 PM

These results are hilarious.

I went with Pulk.

HolyMeximofoJoe 01-08-2008 12:17 AM

I don't understand how people can vote for Pyramid Song right now.... one of the greatest songs they've ever done imo

And Hunting Bears is great

I went with Dollars & Cents

I have a strange suspicion that those may have been throwaway votes because the parties in question didn't feel like voting for Hunting Bears.

We'll see if I'm right come next round.

lazarus 01-08-2008 12:25 AM

That...was the minority vote.

Lancemc 01-08-2008 12:38 AM

What a damn sek-see album.

Dollars and Cents aint my cup-o-tee though.

Down it must go.

the tourist 01-08-2008 01:07 AM

I might have to stay out for this album because it seems a lot of people really hate my favourite song on it. :madspit:

If you shout... 01-08-2008 01:56 AM

"Hunting Bears" is tremendous, you fools!

Aygo 01-08-2008 05:55 AM

Three votes for "Pyramid Song" in the first round? WTF?!
Does those lyrics scare you?
Is the time-signature too complicated for your brain that you don't even want to listen to it or to think about it?

intedomine 01-08-2008 06:20 AM

By no means a classic album, but it has some cracking tracks.

The unnecessary regurgitation of Morning Bell will be getting my vote, skippable.

I'm hoping Pyramid Song, I Might Be Wrong and Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors are among the top 3 from Amnesiac. All are sweet tunes.

djerdap 01-08-2008 06:50 AM

Pyramid Song, You and Whose Army? and Like Spinning Plates are the holy Amnesiac trio.

I voted for Pulk/Pull. It's annoying. Hunting Bears is a cool segue.

I won't vote now for "Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors" because it's very original IMO, but I honestly hope that "Pyramid Song" and "You And Whose Army?" will stay as finalists because, along with "Sail To The Moon", they're my favourite Radiohead songs.

gump 01-08-2008 01:30 PM

Voted for Pulk/Pull. Bears is better.

Like Spinning Plates live is magnificent.
