Favorite Queen Song?

Mine would have to be "Who Want's To Live Forever.

So much energy in that song. It also makes me sad to think one of the greatest Frontmen and vocalists is gone.

corianderstem 02-22-2007 04:33 PM

Somebody to Love.

Who Wants to Live Forever isn't too far behind, though. Neither is Tie Your Mother Down.

I also love Radio Ga Ga, and am not ashamed to admit it.

xaviMF22 02-22-2007 04:33 PM

My Top 5:

1. Somebody to Love
2. Bohemian Rhapsody
3. Who Wants to Live Forever
4. Killer Queen
5. Bicycle Race

If you don't like Bicycle Race, you might not own a soul.

I just tried to talk you down in the Idol thread, but if you-know-who does indeed make it through, you may need to talk me down. I don't know if I can take my own advice.

Sorry for the derail. :reject:

You know what I love? George Michael's cover of "Somebody To Love" from that Freddie Mercury tribute concert in the mid 90s, where a bunch of singers sang with the rest of Queen.

Man oh man, listen to that version and tell me George Michael isn't a great singer.

I'll check the AI thread. We might have to console each other later.

Back to Queen - I do like that George Michael version as well. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvzLkTFi5xY

Oh, and when they toured with Paul Rodgers recently, they didn't play this song. I was cry :scream:

martha 02-22-2007 06:02 PM

Keep Yourself Alive
Tie Your Mother Down
Brighton Rock
I'm in Love With My Car

corianderstem 02-22-2007 06:04 PM

Ooh! I never thought to check YouTube to see if there was a video of George Michael's version. Yay, thanks!

impy13 02-22-2007 06:11 PM

She's a killer queeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen.

JCOSTER 02-22-2007 06:40 PM

Corny but true, Your My Best Friend - One of my wedding songs. :nerd:

Axver 02-22-2007 06:41 PM

I must be the only person whose favourite Queen song is Long Away.

Ogre Battle, Death On Two Legs, and '39 are awesome too.

LMP 02-22-2007 06:48 PM

'39 is a real underrated song

kellyahern 02-22-2007 07:02 PM

The Show Must Go On.

Amazing vocals, especially when you consider how ill he was :(.

I must say... I didn't know the name of that song (Long Away) or much about it til it was on your Desert Island List. It had sounded vaguely familiar. That's one song I kept and moved over to the ipod

phanan 02-22-2007 07:31 PM

Very difficult to name just one song. When I think of my favorite Queen song, several come to mind:

'39
In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited
Save Me
Who Wants To Live Forever
Innuendo
The Show Must Go On

unforgettableFOXfire 02-22-2007 07:38 PM

Tie Your Mother Down
I Want It All
Seven Seas Of Rhye
Too Much Love Will Kill you
Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy

Take your pick from that list, I'd be happy to call any of those my favourite. Queen

The bassline on Dragon Attack is pretty awesome, too.

Zoots 02-22-2007 07:43 PM

Who Wants To Live Forever is beautiful!

I also love Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga and I Want To Breakfree.

I like Somebody To Love but the George Michael live cover has always been closer to my heart. :shifty:

martha 02-22-2007 07:51 PM

I don't know the newer songs.

Canadiens1131 02-22-2007 08:10 PM

Seven Seas of Rhye or I'm in Love With My Car or '39.

Does Under Pressure count? That's become my dissertation theme song

Somebody to Love is a great one. I also have a soft spot for Fat Bottomed Girls

GibsonGirl 02-22-2007 08:39 PM

Oh God, I can't choose.

Tie between The Prophet's Song, '39, Death On Two Legs, The Millionaire Waltz, Ogre Battle, Father To Son and Innuendo.

BrownEyedBoy 02-22-2007 08:44 PM

Love of My Life acoustic version from the Live Killers album... Followed by You Take My Breath Away.

Hearing George Michael's version made me love the song even more. The energy at that tribute concert (even seeing it on my tiny tv) was huge. Annie Lennox and Bowie was another favorite moment.

Can anybody find meeeee... Somebody tooooooooooooooooo lo-o-o-o-o-ove?

Oh yes.

martha 02-22-2007 09:46 PM

The Game! I bought that one, but didn't listen to it much. I didn't like the new sound. The earlier albums always boasted about no synths, but then they started using synths and their music went to crap.

phanan 02-22-2007 09:47 PM

Yeah, they changed with The Game, but I still like that one.

It's with Flash, and then more so the dreaded Hot Space, that they really took a turn downward.

martha 02-22-2007 09:49 PM

So I'm not fulla shit then?

phanan 02-22-2007 09:52 PM

Not this time, anyway.

Although they still did make SOME good stuff here and there the rest of the way, especially the last album, Innuendo.

Here's when the cheese hit the fan:

I'M THE INVISIBLE MAN *synth*
I'M THE INVISIBLE MAN *synth*

:stabsselfwithsaladfork:

phanan 02-22-2007 10:16 PM

Ah, no. The cheese was quite old by then, because it truly hit the fan with Body Language.

Almost all of Hot Space is a major embarrassment. The only two good songs on there are Under Pressure and Calling All Girls.

unforgettableFOXfire 02-22-2007 10:30 PM

I thought The Works was a great album. But maybe it was a last hurrah, since what follows isn't nearly as noteworthy as that which came before The Game.
