Small Plane Crashes into Manhattan Building

just happened...

U2democrat 10-11-2006 03:23 PM

I'm watching CNN now...it was probably some mechanical malfunction, at least I hope.

Headache in a Suitcase 10-11-2006 03:25 PM

it's an odd place for it to happen for it not to be just that... nothing over there but residential buildings, resturants and hospitals.

ntalwar 10-11-2006 03:25 PM

There's a heliport there I think.

Justin24 10-11-2006 03:28 PM

I bet the police and firemans memories of 9/11 are popping back in their minds.

Headache in a Suitcase 10-11-2006 03:29 PM

it's just on the other side of the queensboro bridge... my best friend is a cop in that precint... i already put a call into his cell to see if i could get any more info but he didn't answer which obviously leads me to believe he's a tad bit busy

snowbunny00774 10-11-2006 03:32 PM

Combat aircraft in the air as a precaution....scary. I hope it's unwarranted.

Irvine511 10-11-2006 03:32 PM

i'm not positive, but i believe my friend's parents live in that building. it looks very familiar, and i know they lived on York. and i've spent the night there once or twice.

hope all is okay, and i hope i'm wrong about the building and my memory is faulty.

Zoots 10-11-2006 03:34 PM

Hope everyone is okay.

LarryMullen's POPAngel 10-11-2006 03:35 PM

I hope the residents of that building aren't home right now.

Scary stuff, accident or not.

Headache in a Suitcase 10-11-2006 03:37 PM

from the wide zoom shots of the building it looks as if there's a burn mark stretching down the length of the building, as if the aircraft hit the side of the building and slid down to the street

U2democrat 10-11-2006 03:41 PM

That's what witnesses are saying...that it hit the building and fell to the street. Must be absolutely frightening.

phanan 10-11-2006 03:42 PM

AP reporting:

Quote:

Two people are reportedly dead and others are trapped in the burning building, according to fire department officials.

U2democrat 10-11-2006 03:43 PM

Wait a couple of hours until things clear up...then I'll take reports a little more seriously.

AcrobatMan 10-11-2006 03:43 PM

hmm
