In the interest of transparency, I started the GA line 2 weeks ago at the Tim Hortons near the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor. There's currently only a few people on the list.
Such bull.
So I read months ago that with this tour, it's not necessary to camp out all day to get a good spot because of the way the Tree stage is shaped. Is that still the case, or are people misbehaving more and making it difficult? I'm planning to get there around 4:00; will I still be able to get fairly close? I hardly ever get to do this, so I want to be as close as possible.
Depending on which show, you will be within 5 rows of the tree stage if you get there at that time, probably closer. I think San Diego is going to be the most crowded show on this leg but that's just speculation on my part.
But the vast majority of GA won't show up until doors open or later. The stage is huge and there is a lot of rail. You could potentially look for a rail spot behind the Red Zone or if you're okay being on the far side of the stage by Adam.
The tree stage is usually the most popular area, so it usually fills up first but I still maintain that you'll be within 5 rows. I have a buddy that showed up to one of the NY shows and got 2nd row in front of Bono at the main stage at 5pm.
If you have to have rail on the tree stage, 4pm won't cut it, but if you're okay being a few feet, maybe even just a few inches from that, I think you'll be perfectly happy.
So, after last night, I learned the hard way that certain rail spots really aren't very good for seeing the B stage. I headed for Adam's side and was about four deep from the rail by the side of the tree. Unfortunately, that's where Larry's drum pit is, so I couldn't see the rest of the band during the first songs, just Larry's back. Later, when Bono was out there by himself, he didn't come to that side because Larry's drums were retracted into an open pit, which he probably would have fallen into, being Bono and all. So it's better to be by the tree trunk or the very top of the tree, not by the drum hole. It was a great spot for seeing the main stage and the screen, though.
