Ironically, I saw Mark Knopfler a couple weeks ago, and he was performing with a pinched back nerve. He needed assistance to walk on and off the stage, and sat in a chair the whole time. It didn't affect his performance at all - he sang and played flawlessly.

This is the type of chair he used (photo taken by my friend with his camcorder)-

Yes but Bono loves to run and jump and MAKE WIERD DANCE MOVES and to give us his stamina, his heart. I don't think he could ever do this...

Sounds good. Erm...I'd guess the trucks [assuming they're coming] would come before anything was announced, but you never know.

While it may be true that the trucks were redirected to Minneapolis, that doesn't mean they'll go directly to the stadium. The concert in MN is over a month away. Most likely, the trucks will go to some big lot, where they will drop the trailers off and they'll sit there for however long they need to until they're ready to set up the stage. You probably won't know when the trucks come in.

I hope they really do announce something Monday! This is going to be a long weekend!

Bono has today undergone emergency back surgery for an injury sustained during tour preparation training. He was admitted to a specialist neuro surgery unit in a Munich hospital, and is under the care of neuro surgeon Prof. Dr. Jorg Tonn and Dr Muller Wohlfahrt.

Can someone translate Wohlfahrt into English please.

Well, I had surgery for a ruptured disk 4 years ago, and while it gets better, its always there from a re-injury aspect. good news, I was able to get to enjoy Bonolulu in GA 6 weeks from date of surgery, albeit at a less vigorous pace.

wow..need to login to interference more often :(

just bought GA tickets for Seattle and airline from Wash. DC.

hope it still goes on.

feel better Bono

Good point...

This sux.
When he had that bad fall from the stage a few years ago and people laughed hysterically at him on the youtube clip, I hope they have some sympathy now. That's exactly why I didn't think it was funny, I cringed. All you athletes out there know every bad fall or injury comes back to haunt you as early as your 30's. So I am sure he has been dealing with back pain for years and this recent injury just aggrivated something that has been there all along.

Yup. I torn 6 inches of muscle off my spine playing football in junior high. My back has never been good. It was bad enough last year that I finally started physical therapy (which I should have done in junior high, but things were different back then). It's probably stronger now than it has been in 20 years, but I still wake up with pain more often than not.

Bono's got to seriously consider whether he can physically perform. I know pre-tour conditioning has never been his strong suit.

Get well Bono. We  you.
Sending lots of love and light and prayers for a speedy recovery.

is that fall during the elevation tour what started his back injuries?

That doesn't mean we can't find the trucks and fondle them for a week or 2.

Who knows?

At the first Seattle Vertigo show, when he pulled that girl up and gave her a piggy-back ride, I did groan a bit. "Hey, that can't be good for your back, buddy!"

Didn't he joke a few years back about his slipped disc, saying it happened having rough sex.

i can't wait until 330 so i can head to the pool and forget about all this.
