Anyone getting any decent hotel rates for the Oct. 23 weekend? Looks like everyone has jacked up their rates for that weekend (b/c of 2 big conventions?).

Weekend rates in Las Vegas are often rather high (including Thursdays, too). With a quick search, you can still find rates for under $100 per night for Oct. These might not be on the Strip, but that's a pretty decent rate.
Always check directly at a hotel's web site. 9 times out of 10, they will give you the best rate with out having to prepay the full reservation (You'll probably have to put down the first night's deposit though.). Check Expedia or Vegas .com for a list of hotels, but then go to the hotel's site to see what they are offering.
It's not unusual for hotel prices to go down in Las Vegas the closer you get to the date, but that's not worth taking a chance.
I'd lock in a reservation now, and then just keep checking prices every few weeks. Just make sure your reservation has no cancellation penalty.
Also, it doesn't hurt to sign up for casinos' rewards clubs online and get their offers e-mailed to you. They often won't have special hotel prices until 2-4 months before the dates you want, but if they have a good rate, then you can cancel your original one and change.

that has been my experience with vegas too.. they have a LOT of hotel rooms and offer discounts closer to the date to fill up the rooms. I recently stayed at the new wynn hotel for 100 dollars.

Depending on getting tickets etc, should be doing Vegas (along with basically the entire CSGW crew  )

is there an interference party in the works, or some other official get-together?

Step up to the plate? How about we actually get, you know, official confirmation of the actual date of the Vegas show before making plans?

;)

I've looked into prices a few times. Not too concerned since I'll be staying with a few people = cheap

:shifty:

It's official. I am very seriously considering this. Will be chatting with my BFF tonight, and this is on the agenda. It may take a miracle, but we're seriously thinking of it. There's a lot to figure out, but count me in as a maybe!! :hyper:

details, details. :d

Okay, I was JUST about to ask you if you were the guy whose son got pulled onstage in Seattle during Sometimes, and there you go changing your avatar to pretty much confirm it. I knew your user name was familiar!

That was one of the greatest things I've ever seen at a U2 concert.

The rates I've seen at several of the hotels on the strip that weekend are pretty average and should be extremely affordable to those bunking up with two or three other people.

Vegas is definately on my Tour Wish List.... guess I'll just have to wait & see if the stars are properly aligned (otherwise known as: how much expendible cash do I have? ) when the date(s) are officially announced.

Tryan, thanks for posting those pictures. Does your son still like U2? Does he use his awesome Bono story to pick up girls?

I'm so bummed no video bootlegs of either Seattle show ever surfaced at the usual places. That whole second Seattle show was so amazing.

oh yeah - he's a fan for life. so is our daughter.

of course we're bummed as well - I've looked high and low but to no avail. somebody sent me a little snippet they recorded, but its pretty short and at the end where they walk through the light curtains. I've got a couple audio boots, but thats all. just have to rely on pics and memories.

When are they going to get on with it and make an announcement for PreSale date(s) for the Vegas Show(s)?!!!!! :hyper:

My Horizon PreSale code is really burning a big ass hole in my pocket!!

I didn't even know this thread existed. But yeah, I think I've been convinced. I'll be there. The clincher was when I said to Mr. Z sheepishly 'I think I might go to the Vegas show' and he said 'Well, why wouldn't you?' I  that man!

So I'll be driving from the Phx show to Vegas and then down to L.A. Company is welcome in the car!
