40 takes you to Grand Lake, and if you keep going, to Steamboat which is a ski town. I've only driven to Steamboat in late summer so I'm not sure of road conditions. I do know you're not very likely to see a pika. I haven't taken 14 because it's too far from Denver to do in one day.

The road up Mount Evans takes you into the high country and you'll get some nice views. They have the ability to just close off the very top since it's one-way. You'll almost certainly see marmots on the road and possibly pikas.

My favorite one-day scenic route is 285 to 24, then back through Colorado Springs (goes right by Garden of the Gods too). If roads are good and I have enough time, 50 instead of 24. Both routes give you some awesome views of the mountains and you're almost guaranteed to see pronghorn going through South Park (the big valley near Fairplay).

They're getting another 2-4" of snow up in the high country today with more expected tomorrow.

Thank you so much! Time to check out the map again... :)

Denver people - Expedia is offering $85 for one night at the Ramada Denver Midtown and I'm wondering if I should grab it... Debating between Sat and Sun night in Denver and spending all of Sunday sightseeing vs doing some sightseeing and flying to SLC on Sun night.

ETA: Just checked - two nights averages out even cheaper!

Btw - is it possible to get to Red Rocks by transit or is it a cabbing kind of thing? I can't be in Denver and not see Red Rocks!

I'm not in Denver but the TripAdvisor reviews are not great for the hotel - Ramada Denver Midtown (Denver, CO) - Motel Reviews - TripAdvisor

Have done my research and no public transport to Red Rocks, unfortunately. Either have to cab it (not cheap) or take a tour bus, there is a half day tour by both Gray Line and Colorado Sightseeing that includes it.

Missed the GA drop  Going to be haunting TM through my phone every break tomorrow... at least the seats have never sold out - checked and got section 104, row 20, seat 2. If it comes to it I can get a seat...

I do know another fan who is going by himself who has a ticket to sell at face, amazing section and seat but it's the $250 ones... Section 124 Row 8. PM me if at all interested, he'd be an amusing companion. Edge fan extraordinaire. If there was any way I could go with him, I would.

I might have an extra GA ticket since my friend is now telling me she doesn't think she can go. Let me know if you are interested.

any sightings of the stage yet in Denver? I seem to remember it going up pretty early last time I saw them in Vegas :reject: :hyper::hyper::hyper:

Well even after like 2 years of prodding I was not able to covince anyone I know to go to this show with me!...:| So if anyone wants to be line buddies haha!!!
And @ Drea the mid town ramada isn't too bad it's located niceley the staff is pretty nice and the rooms on the main building have been remodled... I've stayed there a few times for concerts/ hockey games!
And Friday night the local U2 tribute band is playing the hard rock...:
Under A Blood Red Sky-The U2 Tribute Live

If anyones interested in doing that!
Geeez 1 week left!:hyper:

So I read through the entire GA thread...again...and I'm still nervous 'cause it's my first U2 show. Does anyone know if there will be port o pottys near the GA line? And where do I find the GA line in the first place?

LOL...no worries, ireland...you will find the GA line:D...and they are always port o potties available to use....sometimes they even sell concessions...but I always bring my own snacks and water

we're already in line ireland. you better hurry up and get here

i saw uabrs when they played a casino here in tucson. it was, um, interesting. but towards the end i started to get into it more.

:hyper:

Joyful, where are you gonna be on Saturday? Do you still have the same cell #?

I'm driving up on Friday and my sister is flying in from NYC Friday night. We have GA so I'm leaving it up to her whether she wants to wait in line or not since this will be her only show. I doubt she'll want to. If she doesn't want to, we'll be roaming around LoDo I guess, killing time until we head over to the stadium. You're staying with your friends, right? Are they near downtown?

Yep, same number.

it's a cover band playing in the middle of a casino, with slot machines going off all over the place. there were a handful of drunk people who were into it, maybe too into it.

fauxno was doing all the usual bono moves for the different songs. did the red rocks white flag bit during sunday bloody sunday.

about halfway through the opened a set with zoo station, that's when i was like 'hey, i like this part'. and that's when i started to get into it a bit.

they were going to play mysterious ways, but fake-edge's guitar wasn't working right and fake-dallas schoo couldn't fix it.

i'm probably just a big ol' stick in the mud when it comes to cover bands. props to the guys for doing their thing. i have no talent and would be too chicken to get up there.

Ah, okay. I've only seen one cover band (Rattle & Hum) and it was a lot of fun (it was also in a pub, not a casino--definitely hear you on that, uh, less-conducive-to-being-into-music atmosphere).

Like the fake!edge & fake!dallas bit there, hee.

I fly in Saturday afternoon, and I think we're heading straight over there, but I'm not sure. We have seats, so no lines, but my friends are U2 live virgins and are very excited to see the band with me. They live down in castle Rock, so I doubt we'll go down there before the show.

They want to have the meet-old-friends-in-the-parking-lot experience, and I'd really like to see you, so keep your phone on. :)

Do you know if Jennifer's coming, too?

I hope it doesn't rain for you guys. It rained last year- and that was in June!

I know I keep checking the weather... Last year it was like monsoon season or something... Of course nothing beats the thunder storm and hail in the ga line in 05... I better just hush now! ;)

I'm more worried for my husband. I can hold it for a day if I have to. But he can't, and I don't remember there being any trees near Invesco. Thanks for the reassurance.

Already stocked up on snacks & water. I've been on a gluten free diet since last June so I have to bring my own food everywhere, but I'll also be feeling MUCH better this year and able to enjoy & remember the concert better.
