The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

btw I posted this in the other thread but that section is kinda buried and doesn't get as much traffic as this one. I know someone else has already mentioned the casino and it would make sense as everyone who wants to go will be able to make it

People not in concert camping can't get into the tented field and unless there are a load of cabs, which seems unlikely, people from concert camping or the other campsites may not be able to make it to downtown Moncton. So surely the only viable option is somewhere within walking distance from the camping? My guess would be the casino as it looks like it's only about a 1km walk. But someone with local knowledge may have a better idea?

Looking forward to meeting you, RB! (For some long-standing reason, I'm imagining you as a giant squirrel.)

Went our for pasta this evening with a couple of visiting family members. At one point, Space Oddity starting playing over the restaurant's sound system ...followed right after by Pride. Not sure if this event is an accurate predictor of anything. I actually hope it isn't.

ONE WEEK!

lol Looking forward to meeting you as well AoD!! This show will be nuts (lame squirrel reference)

So I've been taking screenshots of the activity this morning

 People. Setting up stuff. Is it normal to have goosebumps a week in advance of a concert?

They actually re-did the drainage at the site just this year.

I'm even excited about this. Good drainage is vital.

Just a question, why do you think they won't play 40? I think if we all started singing it they might be inclined to play it... I love that as a closer and think it would be incredible. It would be amazing for us all to sing that together, would be a beautiful thing.

Stuart played 40 in the pre-show tuneup last night. Not that that means anything. ;)

6 days to go. I'm fired up.

Will be staying far away in Halifax (long long drive after the concert).

Am parking at Concert Camping - it looks like it is only a 1 mile walk to the site of the show - with a water park in the middle of the way!! I mapped the distance on this website: Google Maps Distance Calculator

Giddy with excitement and like lots of others...I am praying for Bad and 40.

This will be my 41st U2 show since ZooTV

So are you going to the Arcade Fire show on Thursday night since you are in Halifax anyway? I suspect that shows gonna be the highlight of our trip.

I wish I could. To change my flights now would cost over $1200 for the two of us! It's totally killing me actually...

If the Arcade Fire show had been announced a month or so earlier, I'd be all set...

Has anyone heard any news for the timing of all the acts? I think someone mentioned that they haven't heard any concrete announcements, which is reeking havoc w/ my pre-show casino plans.

Any info that anyone has heard about when AF is going on, would be appreciated. Sorry, don't really care about Carney.

I haven't heard anything about the set times either, but Ticketmaster says music at 7pm so until something else contradicts that my guesstimate is:

Carney: 7-7:35
AF: 8:05-9:15
U2: 9:50-midnight or the pull the plug

Anyone know if there is a curfew at Magnetic Hill or for the city of Moncton? I would assume no. Sunset will be at 8:52pm that evening and civil twilight is at 9:27pm - so I could imagine U2 starting a bit earlier than 9:50pm - also ending before midnight often allows them to avoid paying taxes for 2 performance days

I am too lazy [scared :)] to go to the AC/DC or Bon Jovi forums to see what time the last shows at Magnetic Hill ended

At all of the shows that I've been at on the Hill - the headliner has always come on no later than 9:30 and the show has been over no later than 11:15 - 11:30 ish... Having said that though something tells me the noise curfew is only at like 12:30 though (but not 100% sure on that, that was just a rumor at the campground)

**Sorry meant to put 11:15 - 11:30 lol... the shows have all been about 2hrs or a bit more - but I expect more than that from U2!

I'm thinking that's a given. :hmm:

My question is, how early should we arrive at the gate? I'm guessing there will be a huge demand for good GA spots.

I'm thinking it could go either way. The group of us hardcore fans that want a good spot will obviously line up. But I think there will be a huge group of people that know nothing about GA and will just show up later because the bands won't be playing until way after 3pm.

 I have a feeling this thread is going to be my lifeline over the next week.

The 3:00 thing is making me lean towards not lining up at all, just waltzing in when I'm damn well ready and getting as close to my friends as I can ... or finding other friends to hang with.

Anyone who's been to shows here before - can we assume they'll have water/food/toilets close to the actual stage area? We wouldn't have to walk 5 miles to go pee or something, would we?

Really hoping it doesn't rain heavily. Rain made for a fun concert in Minneapolis, but I have no interest in slogging through mud and camping in it. I'm not prepared for that.

That stuff being said, today I feel really good about the trip and the concert. It's going to be great.

Now. Just need to hang onto that feeling and not let myself descend into the pits of panic again. :)

Mud washes off!!!! Memories ….. (Glasto Survivor! :D)

This is true. And I can always go slog over to my rental car and sleep in there. The mud will wash off the seats too, I'm sure.
