I have a Rick Steves money belt and a neck pouch (what can I say, I've been very indecisive with purchases for my first overseas trip).

I hate having a purse because I hate having to hold onto it as I jump up and down. Rail is great because I can put it by my feet in front of me (or behind me if I'm at the soundboard).

I tried putting everything in the pockets of my cargo pants, but I had so much stuff crammed in them that the pants kept falling down. I swear I spent a good quarter of the Seattle show hitching up my pants.

At least in seats I can do a purse/bag and just put it under the seat.

I'm going to send my parents a little "What You Need To Know About a U2 Concert" guide before the show. I look forward to telling them they will not need to worry about someone spilling beer down their backs. :)

I'm also going to include this nugget:

Q: That girl in front of us is really annoying with her jumping and screaming. What should I do?

A: Just tap your daughter on the shoulder and say "Alicia, we love you, but seriously, chill out for just one song."

Didn't really need it in Mongolia--totally safe place except for no working seatbelts, horrible non-existent roads and almost no medical stuff anywhere. :yikes:

Whenever I see/am reminded of Long Way Round, I picture Mongolia. It just looks like such a cool place (but difficult to be/travel around in, for sure).

Yeah, I've given in and used my purse for most of the shows (after *never* using one in high school & college), there's just too much stuff I'd like to have handy. I did shove everything into my cargo pants for Baltimore--you just have to tighten your belt so your pants don't fall down. ;D

I only put it at people's feet if they've got stuff on the ground too (so they're more likely to avoid jumping on it), but if I'm on the rail, I toss it over the side once I have what I need during the actual show out of it. Security sometimes doesn't like that, so I do it when they're not looking, then they seem not to care when they see it. ;D

That is a great part of that series. Ewan nails it with his realization that it's not the point to get through it easily, struggling in Mongolia is part of its charm.

My fav is still when my sister and brother in law saw them in Chicago in 2005, security gave my sister a bunch of crap because she had an empty water bottle. They completely ignored my brother in law altogether. He had a gun. (Fortunately he was a cop, but it's still funny how they choose to target BS).

Places don't seem to pat you down anymore, you could shove something in between your belt and your back as long as you're not wearing a tight shirt...idk, get creative.

I got quite the grope in Winnipeg. The security guy really felt-up my left cargo pocket. Didn't touch my right one.

Holy shit. o_O

*sigh* It's so annoying how RANDOM these things are. Oh! Anaheim1, the dude, looking into my purse, was like, "what's that?" about my wallet, which is OBVIOUSLY a wallet. I was like, "[*wtf face*] My wallet?!" and he goes, "can you remove that?", so I took it out of the purse, and he didn't look at it or the purse during/after I did. *major eyeroll*

I don't think I'm brave enough to bring my parents to a U2 concert so :applaud: for you. Not that U2 will ever perform where they live in the near future anyway. :grumpy:

And I have a money belt too that I wore to my previous 2 GAs. I put my extra camera batteries and memory cards in them.

Well, obviously Bono could get seriously injured with her projectile empty water bottle, but who would want to shoot him??

My mom is doing GA 'with me' in Philly and I kinda don't want her to stand next to me during the show :reject:

I have this thing where I don't want my MAWM seeing me fangirl the f*** out.

:barf: How I loathe that man.

I think my parents are probably going to be more entertained by watching me go apeshit than they will by the concert.

They're looking forward to it, although even with their earplugs, I don't think they suspect quite how loud it will be. I know my dad will enjoy watching the Claw. I think they'll know more songs than they realize, too.

I'll have my stepsister there as well, and she'll be into it.

So, can you bring in a purse to GA? Sounds like we have to line up early to be inside the circle, sorry always have done seats but wanted ga for this one....

My sister and I brought my dad in 2005. It was kinda odd - we looked off to the side at one point and saw dad sort of "jamming," in the loosest sense of the word.

All I see regarding purses is this:

• Backpacks, luggage, grocery bags, duffle bags, large bags, large purses, or large camera cases.

TCF Bank Stadium: Schedule & Promotions: Special Events

I don't see any kind of WTF-ery like they had in East Lansing, nothing to be concerned about. Looks like the usual. :)

My two cents on lining up and the inner circle - at the shows I've been to, if you just want to get inside the inner circle, you don't need to get there at the ass-crack of dawn. In fact, most shows, you could waltz in when the gates open at 5 and there is still plenty of room inside.

If you want to be first or second row within the circle (or along the back rail), then it's worth lining up.

This might not be the case at a smaller stadium, if it means less people on the field, but even in Vegas at Sam Boyd (another small stadium), we got there about 4:30, didn't join the line, just waited for everyone to go in, and then walked in, maybe about 5:30. There was still quite a lot of room in the circle.

Your call, obviously - and you might decide it's better safe than sorry. But on this tour, you have some options. :)

Really? I don't care where but want to be in inner circle...:) We are staying at the day's inn so I guess I can judge throughout the day but any idea how many get in the circle? Thanks for your help!

Some shows seem to have more packed into the circle than others, but is it anywhere from 1,000 - 1,500? A lot, for sure. Nothing like the ellipse on the Vertigo shows.

I've never done the pit myself (just investigated before I decided there were too many people for my short-ass to see over!), just going off what I've seen and heard from others.

Have you seen other 360 shows? If not, I will give my unsolicited two cents on the Claw - if you're in the circle, even on the outer rail, you miss 75% of what the Claw is doing. You might not care about that so much, as being able to see the band up close is more important, but the one show I did on the outer rail, I found myself missing the Claw show.

Don't get me wrong - I looooved the chance to have a closer view for once, but I do love me some Claw porn.

2800, though I doubt they count that carefully. You could even get there at 6pm or so and get inside, according to those who brag about it.

2800! Oh man,I was way off!

And yeah, I can vouch that at 6:00 in Vegas, Seattle and at the second Anaheim show, there was still plenty of room in there.

I had Red Zone for Chicago in 2009. I got in the stadium a little after 6 PM. I somehow missed thee RZ entrance and ended up in the pit, until I figured things aout. There was a surprising amount of space on Adam's side.

I've heard that as well - poor Adam, getting no love!

There's usually a lot of room waaaaaay on either side of the stage, but it's pretty hard to see much from there. But technically, you're in the inner circle and usually have loads of room to jump around and dance and stuff.
