Yeah I am driving up with my mom and sis. They're going to drop me off at GA. They have seat tix so I then I guess they're going to hang around Philly until it's time to get to the stadium and get to their seats. So I'm gonna have no car. I may just get a cheap chair from Dollar General or something and just abandon it there.

Oh, lol that's harsh. I'm still considering wandering around Philly.

That's what we got - $9.88 chairs from Walmart. I got to keep em, but in the event that I lost them it wasn't the end of the world. In fact, I should go out today and get my preps going. Especially since I will be in a distant situation.

I'll bring the phone charger and the sort... although I doubt there will be anywhere to put it. I'll likely have to shut down my phone sometime around 3 or 4 pm and turn it back on at around 9-10pm if I want it to last.

Plus I don't know how much different it will be in Philly so don't take me word for word on this but for those who arrive very early, so long as you're back by around 3pm (or whatever time they instruct you to put your stuff away) when the line becomes 'active', if you will, nobody really cares where you go.

Which begs the question Philadelphians, Pat's or Geno's? Or screw them both and look elsewhere?

Screw em both. Tourist stops.....you want a good cheesesteak, go to Tony Lukes. And the pork....ohhhh....the Broccoli Rabe.....

You won't be disappointed :)

Seconded. Mr. Grace40Streets is a huge cheesesteak eater, and he swears by Tony Luke's over the others. He is kind of a Tony Luke's evangelist, actually.

Thank you SO much! :applaud:

Also, looks like our glow stick plans might be foiled: They're among the prohibited items listed. I'm not sure if it makes sense to try to smuggle them in or not, but I don't think I would want to risk it. What do y'all think??

TWO MORE DAYS!!!! :hyper:

I say sneak them in....have the GA area glowing during Crazy!!!:hyper:

Alright awesome, thanks. I'll probably check it out.

And I had a hunch that Pat's and Geno's were total tourist spots anyways. Well, I am a tourist. But still.

Dont get me wrong, they're not bad at all, but if you want among the best you go to Tony Lukes. The others just get all the attention from every prime time sporting event that ever gets nationally televised.

I'm still bringing my camcorder -.- If I get told to stop in the act, I will. But I want to walk out of there with a song or two.

Risky move, my friend. They might tell you to turn it off OR they might tell you to get the heck out...being escorted out of a U2 show would be TORTURE !!

Especially with all of the time, effort, and $ invested in it.

Just go onto the web the next day and watch the show again as many times as you like.

I have a brilliant idea...

Since I need to catch the train at 12:15 I'll record a song and have them personally escort me out to the front of the stadium ahead of everyone else during the encore.

Lol jk, but I'll at least put in an inquiry about it. I really don't understand why they wouldn't allow such a small device - especially with no flash.

Okay put in a quick call to the Guest Services Hotline.

Lets clear some things up! Good news everyone! They're just talking about professional video cameras. Somebody got lazy on the website. As long as it fits inside a 12 by 12 by 12 bag she said, you're all set.

Although, I think that was a stupid thing to say. I could get a pretty big camera in a 12 by 12 by 12 bag. Anyways, to clarify, camcorders and small video recorders are okay.

What time do you all think is the latest you could arrive to the GA line in order to get into the inner circle? Also, once you receive your GA number, can you abandon the line, go elsewhere and come back? Or do you have to wait in the line all day? Thanks!

@StephyD I've heard several people have arrived at 3-4 pm and still got inner circle and not too bad of a spot either. I'd think if you want a pretty close spot to arrive a bit earlier than 3 pm. But I've never done GA before so this will all be new to me.

In Miami I'm sure people who arrived around 4-5pm got into the inner circle, but that was probably more on a count that the Stadium is in a very large suburban setting. The GA Line there didn't seem to fill up very fast like I've heard at other venues.

I'd imagine 3-4pm would be a safe bet in order to get into the inner circle, but the railings (including the far railings) fill up immediately so if you want anywhere on a rail you're talking at least 11 am.

You can abandon the line to an extent. First of all, get to know the people in front of and behind you. That's the most important part. Also, by around 3pm you will be asked/expected to return to the line, regardless. So you can abandon the line, but only after you've spent some time in line and as long as you still end up waiting a good few hours in it anyways

Even more interestingly is the *lack* of mention of prohibited cameras. The only thing mentioned is that "videocameras" are prohibited. Does this mean the DSLR's are good???

Also, it seems that all floor people, GA and RZ are queuing at the South Gate. Does that mean that there will be just 1 line??? I've seen how it works at other stadiums, but not here, so i'm really not quite sure how that's going to work out. They mention "dedicated turnstiles".

:hmm: interesting!

Having looked at Google Maps for the Linc

is the South Gate near to the ?? Highway?

AND more importantly is there a hill going down to the field gate??

when I was at GS and turned the corner (so to speak) toward the field gate there was a fecking semi-steep hill to go down!

And most important: :uhoh:

Were port-o-sans for '09s show GA line available?
Or did people have to walk somewhere else???

and thanks air for the stadium announcement

:hmm: a 3AM ? bus to Philly?:crack: aaaah it's worth it! :hyper:

Actually I'm REALLY SURPRISED they're letting FOOD Items?

Can anyone give advice on best time to enter venue?

My wife and I will be attending the Philadelphia concert on this Thursday (July 14th). We aren't planning on tailgaiting, so we're in no hurry to get to the venue. We're also not interetsed in watching the opening act, so I was hoping that some of you that have been to recent shows could give me a roundabout idea of when U2 gets on the stage. We are in general admission and I do understand that the earlier you get in the more likely you are to find a spot close to the stage. We're not planning on waiting for hours to to get inside the runway, but would prefer to get in approximately 20-30 minutes before U2 comes on. If anyone has any advice on when they have (generally) been getting onto the stage to start the concert, it would be greatly appreciated and would help us plan our day as far as when to leave home, etc....Thanks in advance!

I flew into Philly today about noon, and as my plane started its descent towards the airport, I noticed the stadium off the right side of the aircraft. I looked very closely and could just see what appeared to be the bottom part of the Claw structure (minus the top spire part) in the stadium. I will be in the stands (for the first and only time on this tour) and am excited for Thursday!

I actually feel you can see the whole production better from further away . I would go in around 8:00 - 8:30. You should be fine. If you hang back on the floor you will have more room to move around also.

If the gates are directional the south end would be the end facing I-95, which would mean the north end is facing Citizens Bank Park.

I'm pretty sure you can bring food into the Linc. When they first built it, they planned on banning food, and the fanbase collectively flipped shit, as one of the best perks of the Vet was bringing whatever the hell you wanted into the game. I know at CBP you can bring food and unopened drinks in. I'm pretty sure the same policy applies at the Linc.

^That's huge. In Baltimore, we all scarfed down giant burritos at like 4:30 because that's when they said they would let us in & we couldn't bring food in. Of course, they didn't really let us in for another hour....

My brother just told me that as a belated birthday present, he got us car service to take us from Seaside, NJ, (where we've been for the last few days) to and from the show. Woohoo!

Anyone have any idea on whether there are places in walking distance to pick up dinner and bring it back to the line? The maps make it look like there's nothing around...

Those maps would be correct sir. There isn't a hell of alot around that area, at least not yet, not until PhillyLive debuts.

There is McFadden's inside/outside Citizens Bank Park across the way and they are open every day. That's your best best right there. Food and beer....not sure if they do takeout, but I can't see why not.

Other than that, you're SOL on the food front. You'd need to go to other parts of South Philly that are a bit of a walk. I'd say McFadden's is your most convenient best bet.

Lincoln Financial Field just tweeted me back when I asked where GA can park if we get there at 6am.

"Parking attendants will let people lining up early park in Lot K from 5:30 am. Enter at pattison Ave."

I hope that helps people out!

I'm a bit confused about the parking situation. Linc. Financial Field e-mailed me yesterday saying GA line people can park starting at 5:45.

" Thanks for your email. We are glad to hear you will be attending the U2 Concert! General admission is first come first serve. The parking lot for General Admission ticket holders only will open at 5:45 am and will allow them to start lining up at 6 am. The South Gate is where guests can start lining up, located towards the end of 11 th Street closer to I-95. The gate for general admission will open at 4:30 pm and all gates for the stadium open at 5:00 pm. We are not allowing guests to line up overnight."

So which is it, 5:30 or 5:45??

Not gonna sweat the GA line drama and stress for this show. Going with my hubby and kid and leaving MD at 2pm and plan on walking back to the soundboard and hang out with them. I haven't had this perspective yet and haven't spent any time with my family for any recent U2 show cuz I am always camping out early to get the rail. It will be really weird but I will still be able to enjoy myself and rock out with plenty of room..

Dont forget Chickie and Petes. Im pretty sure they have a "crab bus" that will pick you up drive you to Chickies (not far) and ten drive you back.

Right, Chickie and Petes is a good bet too. I just wasn't sure if they had the bus running for this event. It's not too bad of a walk, but compared to just walking across the street to McFaddens and bringing food back to the line, it's a bit tough. Unless they are running the bus, then all bets are off.

Give me crab fries with cheese all day and all night. The best thing ever created.

Spur of the moment I just got a GA ticket (for almost half the price I paid in Miami, too!).

Now to arrange traveling... Philly people... what's the easiest way to get to LFF from New York?

New jersey TP south. I usually get off onto the PA turnpike and get off the Neshaminy Exit. Bensalem. Parx Casino (Im not sure of the exit number) Get on Street Road East.....take that about 4 miles to 95 south. Takes you right to the stadium. Pretty easy. I like doing this to avoid coming all the way down through Jersey and coming over a bridge. Hope this helps!!

Yea, Mcfaddens would definatly be easier. If Chickies is smart that bus would be trolling the Ga line all day. Probably easy to find out with a phone call. I would bet the bus would be around, but not sure. Gotta have them witht he cheese! Agreed!
