One of the top 10 U2 shows I have seen.

Outer rail center catwalk, and despite the rain and cold, it felt warm there once Return Of The Stingray Guitar started up. U2 played IWF, NLOTH and Pride during the soundcheck, so some of the more optimistic of us expected to hear those songs during the show. The way U2 played them, though, was something else. I will never forget the intro to NLOTH, we were looking at each other trying to figure out what song it was when we suddenly recognized it all at the same moment. They really need to keep it in the setlist, the crowd loved it.

Bono was in a playful mood, and even though his voice is not up to par, his enthusiasm makes up for it. They all seem really happy right now, especially Larry. Never seen him smile this much before.

The audience in the pit and around us was really good, loud and energetic without being pushy and drunk. The GA lineup was well organized, to a degree. They only let the first 200 people get numbers on their hands, leaving the late arrivers to fend for themselves.

Glad it rained, watching Bono and Edge do Singin In The Rain at the end as they waved goodbye was magic. All the hardcore travelling fans I met afterwards were blown away by the gig, it was one of those rare special U2 shows.

Tried to meet them at their hotel earlier in the day, but got there too late and found a mob of maybe one thousand people clogging the little street in front. They shook and few hands and signed stuff for a lucky few, then departed with a police escort.

So awesome. Glad it was as amazing in person as it seemed like watching the setlist go by on the screen!

Sounds like a great show Nick!

I didn't get a ticket in the end, sorta left it too late I think. I was stupidly faffing around, mingling with people outside, getting food, sheltering from the rain, faffety faffing. The touts had all gone by around 8:55pm, and almost all the fans with tickets were inside. I was offered a €30 ticket for €50 by a woman with a spare (after U2 had come onstage) but I didn't bite.

I watched some of the show including that new song through the same gate, but after it began to rain I decided to walk along the path by the lake back to town to meet my host. I could hear the show the whole way back to the train station (about two miles away).

I watched the band soundcheck I Will Follow, Pride and the acoustic No Line from outside the stadium through a gate. There was a clear view onto the stage on Edge's side, although I had to crouch down a little bit to see their heads. But I can still claim I saw U2 play those songs yesterday

I dunno where this story that they soundchecked Bad came from. I'm sure I saw 95% of the soundcheck, and heard the first 5% whilst dashing around to that gate after I heard it start. I didn't hear Bad - did you hear it soundchecked, Nick?

They didnt soundcheck Bad, who said that. Some fans in the queue were yelling for Bad after they finished Pride, so maybe some newbies got confused.

Sad you didnt get in, but will make up for it in Moscow

Da! Although they may revert to a greatest hits set. If that includes Bad then I'll be happy.

Good idea. Which obscure tune will you choose.... Acrobat, Mofo or Street Mission

Tweet that not only did they rehearse Street Mission, but Bono was seen in the white disco pantsuit from that 1978 performance video.

Glad you had a great time Nick :jealous:

Sorry you didn't get in Cathal

And yes, the setlisters thought Bad had been rehearsed, but it wasn't certain. Too bad it wasn't

Hey Lila! One of the fans from the German forum met Adam the day before at their hotel and asked him about Bad. Adam kind of shrugged and blew it off, saying something polite but meaningless.

Dont think we will hear it in Moscow, maybe they will reserve it for a second night show in Zurich, Brussels or Coimbra.

My friend Colleen and her mom traveled from Vermont to go to the Helsinki shows. She got a setlist from A.J. last night.

Oh, Cathalm, this was a little bit stupid . You had it took , so you`ve missed one of the best U2 shows ever and the best show during 360° in my opinion. This show was fucking amazing, I had a place near Edge at the mainstage fence and I`ve enjoyed the show like it were the last. The band was
so powerfull and they had so much fun, at the most during the heavy raining period near the end. Singing in the rain, now at home too .
