What's that song they came out to? / Intro Songs?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I like the Return of the Stingray instrumental song but not for the intro. To me it does not sound right after Space Oddity the way Soon did naturally. Also Soon/Breathe was a much better 1/2 punch than Stingray/Beautiful Day.Although I do think Breathe would be a better song to close out a main set the intro I think would be good would be either Space Oddity/Soon/Magnificent or Space Oddity/Soon/GOYB with that extended intro on either Magnificent or Boots.BTW there is a huge 20 second gap of silence right after Stingray and before BD.I really thinks that kills the shows flow and energy.

Some people on our boards who went to the Helsinki gigs report that they have heard the following songs being played over the PA before the show.
It would be cool if people kept adding to this list as the tour makes progress, just like last year! ;)

U2360° Tour 2010 - Intro Tape Songs - Leg 3: Europe
Fever Ray - Triangle Walks
Jackson Five - Can You Feel It (Unconfirmed remix version)
Band of Skulls - Friends
The Drums - It Will All End In Tears
Broken Bells - The High Road

I've found out that Elbow's One Day Like This was being played at Horsens and Muse's Supermassive Black Hole in Moscow so I'm adding those to the list.
Addtionally, I found out that a song called Howlin' For You by The Black Keys was played in Helsinki.

Europe Leg 3 - in Istanbul:

- Phoenix - 1901
- Phoenix - Liztomania
- Florence + the Machine - Dog Days Are Over
- John Lennon - Power to the People

This thread is great. The pre-show music at the gigs has introduced me to a whole ton of new artists and songs in the past year of 360.

I have made an iTunes playlist of most of the songs in this thread.

I've also made a google spreadsheet with all of the songs. Feel free to add to it or edit it with new songs. It's open so that the U2 hive mind can make the list better and more accurate.

I love knowing this stuff. This kinda stuff blew the door open for my love of the Arcade Fire in '05. I'm sure that something off the Suburbs is getting some play.

Currently, its the Drums that I'm loving at the moment.

Thought I'd post an update so far, in no particular order, please help if you can! ;)
I suppose this list of the band's current favourites might be of assistance? - http://www.u2interference.com/forums/f189/what-u2-is-listening-to-now-207616.html
Thanks to Joey788 for sharing that information, and also to Flaming_C for posting some of the Istanbul tracks.

all i remember is going from dog days are over into space oddity.

Same deal with Perth 2 weeks ago, I only remember cause my friend loves Florence and the machine and so was annoyed when they got cut off lol.

Perth intro songs was very much similar to leg 3 in Europe. Although I do remember Nirvana's Smells like teen spirit playing - really got me and others around me in the mood for the concert.

Smells Like Teen Spirit was part of the Jay-Z intro tape (the 15-minute countdown before his set). IIRC, these were the songs during his countdown:
Beastie Boys - No Sleep Til Brooklyn
Coldplay - Viva La Vida
The Notorious B.I.G. - Hypnotize
Nas - ???
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit (partial)

Elbow - One Day Like This

this is a fantasic song!!

It sure it!

These are what I heard at Denver & Salt Lake City;

(In no particular order)

Gavin Friday - Able
Raphael Saadiq - Radio
the Strokes - Machu Picchu
Flamin' Groovies - Shake Some Action
Rye Rye feat. MIA - Sunshine
Peter Bjorn and John - I Know You Don't Love Me
Rolling Stones - Satisfaction

nope.

satisfaction is one of the last songs to play, if not the last song

i only recognized one other song and that was very early as i walked into the stadium.

the playlist was much better in 09 and last year
