How Many Shows?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

The Vertigo Tour was perfect for me:

7 shows in 2005
7 shows in 2006

7 arena shows
5 stadium shows
3 arena shows with the outdoor stage

San Jose x 2
Las Vegas x 2
Oakland x 2
Portland

Monterrey, Mexico
Mexico City x 2
Tokyo x 3
Honolulu

I never got burned out, and almost every show is still memorable (except for Vegas 1, I don't remember much of it now).

I'd hoped to go to Ireland and the UK this year, but if U2 are doing stadium shows here in the US as well, I'll skip it. Stadium shows are a drag.

Therefore, NLOTH Tour 2009

Las Vegas x 1
Oakland/San Francisco x 2
Boston x 2
New York x 2

2010

Australia/New Zealand
Brazil/Argentina/Chile

Yeah i can definately see being from the northeast being beneficial.

:hyper: You have to show us the best bars in Boston. Oh, and we can go sightseeing. :shifty: Aww thats so sweet. I will buy a cocktail somewhere nice. :shifty:

I did 9 shows last tour ( 5 being US or Canadian shows ) so i almost fit in your category. Every show was amazing as me and my friend who i flew in with from the UK, got to hang out with with our Canadian/American friends and we got to see our favourite band with them/hang out with after the shows etc. We even got to celebrate 2 birthdays, so for me it is just as much about socialising with my amazing friends as it is about the shows. I have a life thanks and these people i am going to see in various cities/countries are apart of it, its awesome to share my experiences with them and see new places.:)

Definetly. And I'll steer you away from the tourist traps.

And ditto on the second part.

If I hadn't been in high school last tour, I would have been one of the people "without a life" for sure. :nerd:

Some of us forum member see high numbers of shows. One or two forum members have seen full tours, or at least full tour legs. Band members know their faces and sometimes their name - Bono even put one on the Elevation guest list for every show.

Different strokes for different folks.

The shows ARE different, sometimes if only in subtle ways. Some of us take out U2 VERY seriously and notice tiny details. What cool about mutliple shows is figuring out which members are firing on all cylinders and how that balance plays out in the final sound. Some of Bono lyric variations can be very entertaining and go over the head of most of the audience.

I've only seen 16 total. I'll see everything in the pacific northwest and probably alberta. I have trouble dreaming up bigger trips without hearing more than 10 minutes of the album.

I will say that I was still entertained after 3 straight shows, but 4 in 6 days started to wear me out. Mainly to do with waiting on drop lines and GA pits.

Of course you are all guessing that you will get tickets for all the shows??????
We all hope we can get tickets but also what about the costs of the tickets seeing as its LiveNation???
It's just not that easy especially with limited dates but good luck to everyone, we are all going to need it!!!!

Good point. I've gifted enough u2.com memberships to enough people to ensure I will have access to at least 4 show, but am banking on being able to trade spare tickets for those for at least 1 more.

i honestly don't think it will be too hard to get tickets on this tour, especially in the US

economy + stadiums

last time U2 did stadiums in the US most didn't sell out

getting a GOOD ticket will probably still be hard, but getting A ticket, probably not too bad

The traveling was almost as much fun as seeing the shows.

And meeting new friends was great.

I doubt that I'll do as much traveling this time though - money is a lot tighter this time around. I'm thinking 2 -3 shows if I can.

I have never traveled to Europe to see them, so going to Dublin will be exciting. I can't wait.

I hope they come here, I'm sure...

if my dream comes true, 2 shows in Santiago and I'm in heaven...

if it's one, I'll go to Argentina again.. maybe all shows

well.. it all depends of the economy

but the Chile ones are a lock

i don't understand that people want to see them 10 times with almost the same setlist...? Come on, get a life

That's why I see them over 2, 3 or 4 legs. The setlist does change somewhat.
I saw 9 shows on the Vertigo Tour, from the opener in San Diego to the finale in Honolulu. What an evolution! The first night, the world premiere of Crumbs in my hometown (Minneapolis) and the return of One Tree Hill in N.Z.---Awesome Tour!!!

I hope to see at least 4 shows in 3 different cities this tour, but with the economy the way it is, no overseas shows though, unfortunately.

I'm curious to see how many legs this tour has and if it truly is a stadium tour, or if they take it to arenas at some point.

First off my U2 tour depends on how the Metallica touring schedule and when they play Madison Square Garden in November. When Metallica takes their 5 to 10 day touring break I'll turn to U2 for those fill in dates. Since every band is playing in Europe I will try to go to the tour opener, Dublin and London. I'll even try to hit the Sonisphere Festival in the UK August 1st and around July 20th in Germany I think. I'll do probably 17 to 20 U2 shows. Sorry but Metallica first before U2 unless its a club or special gig.

Thats right for the US but its not the case in UK Ireland and Europe!!
We managed tickets for all the Vertigo shows in the UK and 2 in Dublin but that was through the presale the day they actuallly went on sale we couldnt even get a link to the site.

Wow, I really envy people who have the dedication and finances to go to multiple shows in different cities / states / countries. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to go to one show (and even then, that's only if there's any Dublin tickets left once all the travellers from far away have left any lol!).

Hopefully 2 or 3. Will go to Atlanta, would love to go back to Chicago to see some friends there as well. Of course this is assuming I can actually get decent tickets (and don't spend every spare cent I have on another band's upcoming tour, like it looks as if I'm going to do. :uhoh: )

I caught three shows on the Vertigo tour (London 1, Manchester 1 and Cardiff) but am aiming for more this time around. All depends on ticket and accommodation availability.

I live just south of Boston, so I am one of those lucky Northeast people!

I honestly have no idea what the plan is for me this tour. The best information I have so far is that they will be hitting US stadiums in Fall 2009. I certainly dont have the money to travel around to see them, as much as I want to, it would take something that is both unforseen and drastically alters my financial situation.

In addition, I dont know whether I will be getting a job in the Boston area or possibly DC when I graduate college in May. If I stay put in Boston area, I will try and work my security job at both shows(I work for a company w/ all the NE live nation security contracts) in Gillete Stadium and then buy a ticket to the closest show. This will most likely be E Rutherford. If its DC, I will try and get a ticket at RFK and get up to Boston to work the shows there.

The working is not as bad as you might think, I made sure when I got this job to suck up big time, do everything that is asked of me, help out wherever possible by working from the 7AM load ins, etc. This has gotten me in very good with the owner and the management of my company, and when U2 comes around, I will ask for all the load in hours, do anything they need all week, under the condition that for both shows, I go right to the soundboard. The job description there entails watching the show, as no one ever tries to crash the soundboard!

My best guess is 3 U2 shows this tour. If I happen to get a job that pays a lot better than I'm anticipating as of now, then I will probably up that to 5 or 6.

if you come here, you have a friend right here :D

Right on, thank you, Pepokiss!!

I've never been to Chile before, so I will hopefully see U2 in Santiago and also be a tourist for a few days.

You are certainly welcome in California, too. Let me know if you're coming, and I will arrange your tickets, local transportation and accommodation, no problem. We will be a big gang of U2 fans going to the West Coast shows, so you will feel very welcome.

I'd like to do at least 3. Wherever they show up in Ohio...it'd be nice if they came to Columbus but I doubt it but maybe because they used the OSU football stadium for Pop. Philly for sure since my mother went with me last time. I'd love to go back to Chicago again.
