ok, this is another mix for Florida. This is for a night we want decent music playing but we don't need insane party music ALL.THE.TIME. Y'know?

Could You Be Loved: Bob Marley & The Wailers
St. Elmos Fire (Man In Motion): John Parr
Linger: The Cranberries
Somewhere Only We Know: Keane
I Miss You : blink-182
Wake Up: Arcade Fire
Yellow: Coldplay
Me And Bobby McGee: Janis Joplin
Wonderwall: Oasis
Perfect Blue Buildings: Counting Crows
Babylon: David Gray
I Wanna Go Back: Eddie Money
All These Things That I've Done: The Killers
American Girl: Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
Summertime: DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince
Boyz-N-The Hood: Dynamite Hack
Snow (Hey Oh): Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly): Missy Elliott
Where Is the Love?: Black Eyed Peas & Justin Timberlake
These Boots Are Made for Walkin': Jessica Simpson
Centerfold: J. Geils Band
Goodnight Goodnight: Hot Hot Heat
I Write Sins Not Tragedies: Panic! At The Disco
Since U Been Gone: Kelly Clarkson
9 to 5: Dolly Parton
I Walk The Line: Johnny Cash
You're Beautiful: James Blunt
God Only Knows (Mono Version): The Beach Boys
Collide: Howie Day
Open Your Eyes: Snow Patrol
Don't Stand So Close To Me '86: Police
Stir It Up: Bob Marley & The Wailers
Laid: James
Time After Time: Cyndi Lauper
Superstar: Carpenters
White Flag (Live): Dido
Forever Young: Alphaville
Sister Christian: Night Ranger
Tiny Dancer: Elton John
It's All Coming Back to Me Know: Céline Dion
Champagne Supernova: Oasis
I Want to Break Free: Queen
Your Song: Elton John
Angels: Robbie Williams
Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover: Sophie B. Hawkins
Hands Open: Snow Patrol
Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours: Stevie Wonder
Total Eclipse of the Heart: Bonnie Tyler
Glycerine: Bush
Under Pressure: David Bowie & Queen
In a Big Country (Radio Edit): Big Country

I have to say that my friends are really just Top 40 listeners so the fact that I threw some Snow Patrol and an "unknown" Killers song into the mix is just me trying to fight the man.

This is just one of those mixes that you want on in the background so you can still talk to everyone but every few minutes say, "Oh shit, I love this song!"

I really look at making mixes as an artform (one I have clearly not mastered!).

My one friend, we'll call her "Penelope", has a decent music collection (top 40-wise at least) but when she makes a mix, she just throws all the songs into a playlist and is done.

Penelope also puts in shit that only she has heard before, you know?
Like, WHY.

Mixes are made first and foremost for the audience. Not the creator...unless you are trying to get someone into new music. For something like our Florida trip, you need to know your audience and know that as soon as that first song comes on that they don't know they will go, "What is this? Go to the next song" which will immediately destroy the flow of the entire mix. So, while I might not love these mixes competely, I think they are great for my audience.

I totally understand. I made a wedding limo mix for my friend back in may. I made sure the songs she liked were in the perfect place.

We ended up making the driver circle a few times so we could hear all the songs.
