See, since I'm using XP now, I'm just wondering
under what cirumstances should I start to
consider switching to Vista? Is it necessary? I
kinda like Xp still, no real problems (though it did kill my USB ports.)

Maybe I should just hold off for a while? Will the price
eventually come down?

Does Vista have any features that are "must haves"
or is it just a glorified version of XP? I'm curious but
unless there's a need I have better was to spend my
cash. Know what I mean?
how about I just let people post their impressions of their

You should go to a store
or maybe find a site specific to computer advice
unless you trust people on here a little more
readily than you would others

Sometimes it's better to let the bugs get worked out and all. It's not like XP didn't
have 2 huge security updates. At least.

Some decisions just take time and patience. A new operating
system is something I don't think should just be bought cuase,
"Hey, it's new whoo whoo." I don't have any real
overwhelming need to get it, just more of a curiosity. And I'm always the
last person to upgrade computer stuff, so I was just wondering if I was missing an
experience by waiting.

I'm not the techo in my house.....but hubby is and he says: " It's visually nice but it's a pig of an OS due to being very resource hungry and almost every home user will have to upgrade some kind of hardware"

He really was looking for advice, though. Someone else told him to wait about 6 months for all the bugs and kinks to get worked out.

i am actually a nice guy, I would never make Beav
cry. I would even go so far as to say that Beav
knows I am a nice person but will not admit it.

I work in this field...hold off for about 6 months. The chance is that you will need new drivers that may not be available now. I know there's a major issue with iTune...the main fact I'm holding off.

Otherwise, wait until you buy a new PC and it will come preloaded on it anyway.

I purchased a new laptop last month and I'm in the process of redeeming my free Vista upgrade. However, I also get the business edition though MSDN Academic Alliance.

I probably won't upgrade until I the computer starts to crash since Vista doesn't really offer me anything I care that much about.

I would also suggest waiting for them to upgrade versions a couple of times to work out any kinks...
I had heard the current version of Vista has problems with ITunes for example, I'm not sure if this has been resolved or not...
