Blu Ray discs are also going to fail because of unavailability.

HD DVD is associated with the 360, which I think is superior to the PS3 (just my opinion)

And the Blu Ray is with the PS3.

one is a fax machine

the other is a videogame console

who uses a fax machine to play video games?

Porn has ALWAYS been on the forefront of technology, VHS, internet, DVD, and now...

Like it or not they've pushed these forms of technology in our households.

A friend of mine designs videogames, we were having this conversation, he was telling me about how many companies will follow porn's lead.

Sony failed with Betamax because they didn't allow porn on it.

So they will do.

The first company of that scale that really sticks to it's "values".

Why don't you like the 360?

I don't like any next-gen system at the moment. I'm waiting for the killer games and several years of price drops first ;)

I believe you may be right. I've never watched porn on beta-max. In fact, I've never watched anything on beta-max. Beta-max = lol, pwnd. Just like Blu-Ray. Sony tries to push their pompous agenda and gets shut down.

Actually, Beta-max was a success in the fact that it was used professionally!

Just about everything for television was done on Beta (shows, video, commercials, etc.) because of its higher quality.

VHS took off because it was cheap!

I do not know enough about Blu-Ray really........or HD Porn. :shifty:

I thought the Blue-Ray would win beacause people 8like me) would fin more easy to SAY Blue-Ray than HD-DVD

:tsk: no porn

Hey, I'm with you

2008!

New iPod and 360 year!

Blu Ray and HD have dropped to the same price, I still think the PS3's marketing disaster will kill Blu Ray.

Plus, an all-encompassing High Def-DVD player (plays Blu Ray, HD, and old DVDs) will hit the market in a year or two, i'm sure of it.

words of wisdom as always from Jeff! I would be a millionaire if I had a $ or £ for everytime I've had to correct people about the Betamax and VHS thing too.

Is there not already one being made by a Korean manufacturer?...It was in some tech news a few weeks back.

It's Sony Playstation, and Sony Blu-Ray :)

OK, Blu-Ray was developed by some companies together, but Sony has the greatest share in it.

We still Beta tapes in television. They are definate work horses in the industry.

The heavy dose of copyright protection in HD-DVD and Blu-Ray could potentially doom both formats. HDCP has such a heavy hardware requirement that if you are missing even one aspect of its requirements, you'll automatically be downgraded to 480p. Don't have an HDMI connection on your expensive HDTV? 480p! Have an SPDIF audio connection on your computer, instead of a rare optical audio cable whose name completely escapes me? 480p!

Both formats essentially treat their consumers as if they were all criminals, while the real criminals will always find a way around it anyway.

But not BetaMAX. Television uses BetaCAM. Two different and completely incompatible formats.

However, even BetaCAM is starting to envision its own death, with the long advent of DVCAM/DVCPRO, and now tapeless formats like XDCAM and P2.

Personally, as someone who also works in television, I despise Beta anything.
