Quicktime movies to WMP

What do I need to do to get or convert my .mov vids to be able to play in Windows Media Player or to edit in the movie maker?

I've tried opening them up in wmp but they won't play it says something like 'codec required'.

Try divx.

Do you do 'import' movie in movie maker rather than 'open'?

I had trouble but I found that if I chose import, it worked.

Yeah I tried importing into movie maker and it still says that it doesn't support that file type. It's weird cos it used to work without a problem.

I just downloaded the divx thing so will see what that's all about. Thanks Beav & Sicy.

it wouldn't let me convert the file in the divx program..it did install the codec okay however when i tried playing the video in wmp it only played the audio lol. windows hates me.

try using a different codec..
I convert all my videos using Super, and the codec I use is Divx, which is automatically installed on every computer

Hey I'm having the same problem. I want to convert a quicktime file to wma or avi and I downloaded Super but there is no option to convert from quicktime movie file?

That definately converts to MPEG4/MP4/what iPods and Quicktime plays, It should, If I remember rightly do what you want to do Sicy. I reccomend it either way, its handy to get things on your Ipod, films included.

...you dont need one.

Mpeg4/mp4 files are iPod video files and movie files. Its just what iPods use. I just know quicktime plays them.
