Question on restoring a computer.

Ok I have done virus and spyway scans but the computer still acts funny. So I lost the disc that came with the computer and the back up disks incase I need to wipe out my computer and start from factory settings. Now if I did this would I still need the CD's or will It re-install the settings it had when the computer was first purchased?

Do you mean using System Restore to go back to the earliest restore point available? If so, yes you can do this without discs. However, it doesn't replace/remove all files so if you suspect a virus infection it may not help.

Oh, I wasn't aware you can do it w/o the discs. You have to actually boot off the discs to re-create the partition.

Recovery disk thats what it's called. If I click on that it turnes back your computer 100% to factory settings, when you took it out of the box.
