port forwarding help

i am attempting to forward ports through my dsl modem & router for torrenting.


my configuration:

i connect wirelessly from my notebook to a wireless router connected to the dsl modem

i had this all configured & working when i connected directly to the modem with it's built in wireless, but the built in wireless does not work half the time. So i got a wireless router, but now i can't get the ports forwarded correctly.

I think the problem is with setting up a static IP address, is there a different way you have to do this when going through 2 devices?

(i know how to setup the IP Address on my comp)

but everytime i think i have the static IP stetup on the router, it isn't
