YAY! we finally got our new laptop computer today.
it's a brand new compaq presario 17inch.
we just turned it on, created the backup dvds but now there's a small problem.
we keep getting a "low disk space on drive: d" message.
it looks like the only thing on drive d is recovery stuff and mediaid.
nothing else has been installed anywhere.
there is also a folder with the name of the computer.
my husband did all the setting up for everything.
whew, i'm not used to windows vista yet.
is there something else that we should or should not have done during the setup?

and now another message..."backup failed"

grrrrr...why can't they just include cd's like they used to with new computers. :banghead:

If it's anything like mine, your OS is installed on the C and Recovery partition is on D. Vista is huge though, so if you want to back it up somewhere it's not that surprising that there's not enough space on the Recovery drive. It's best to create another partition, burn it to dvd or an external HD.

well i finally got the recovery discs to burn. they're almost finished now. last night i was never able to get the backup discs to burn and for now i'm out of dvds. how important is it to make backup cds for a brand new computer? i usually backup all my important files each month anyway.
