I'm sick of all the glitchy behavior of itunes, but I do like many of it's features, such as

-large storage space for the ipod classic.
-the ability to join CD tracks before adding them to your device
-the ability to tell it at what point to start an/or end a track before adding said track to your device
-playlists
-plays through devices such as alarm clocks, stereos, cars, etc
-edit info about tracks, such as album, year, artist, etc
-the ability to choose to shuffle songs or albums
-I'm sure there are more that I can't think of at the moment

I don't care about how many songs they have for sale. I just transfer them from CDs.

Friggin thing keeps freezing or crashing when trying to add tracks to my ipod.

If anyone has any recommendations of a good program that works well with Windows 7 and a corresponding mp3 player that does all of the above, it would be much appreciated.

Sounds like your issue is with iTunes, not the iPod device itself. Let's face it, while there are alternatives, an iPod is still probably the best device out there.

Have you ever tried MediaMonkey instead of iTunes? Works great for me! Give it a whirl..
