iPod people - help!

Ok, this sucks but Jessica's U2 iPod is on the fritz.

It seems the car we just bought has a leak, and this morning the floor on the passenger side was 2" deep with water. Jess didn't notice it until the threw her bag down, so her iPod was immersed in water for a few minutes, and it's not working now.

Does anyone know if there's a way to disassemble the iPod so we can dry it out?

Is there a way to send it in for service?

Is the an Apple Store near you? You can send it in, sure, but from what I hear it costs an arm and a leg, and you have to authorize any charges up front, or something along those lines.

You can open it by sliding something thin along the side. There's a video on youtube or google video about it. I'll see if I can find it.

Well we made an app't at our local apple shop to have a "genuis" look at Jess's iPod. Turns out the battery was dead, but everything else works.

Not bad - at least they looked at it for free.
