iPod Nano problem

So I've got an iPod Nano 5th Gen (the one with the video camera), and I've had it since December 09. It starts pausing itself randomly, and it's a pain to get unpaused (word?). For example, the other day I was able to get through Streets without any problem, and was barely able to get through the first verse of Mysterious Ways right afterword. It seems it only does it shortly after I press a button or adjust the volume, because it's fine if I leave it locked for a while.

Any suggestions? I really don't wanna spend the money on a new iPod, because I don't want a Touch (already got an Android phone), a Classic, or a Shuffle, and I hate the new Nanos.

I did that many times. After much scouring on Google, I realized it wasn't very fixable, not for free at least. I went out to the pawn shop and got a new one for half of what I paid for the first one.
