IPod battery question

I have a 30GB video Ipod from 4-5yrs ago. the battery life use to last approx 8hrs, just lately ive found i do a full charge and the battery is drained in just over 1 hour. Seems the battery's life is at an end.

Do people replace their Ipod batteries? Or just buy a newer Ipod (since it has been about 5 yrs)

I think most just go out and buy a new iPod, but I think the battery can be replaced. Have to take it in to an Apple store or maybe authorized repair center though, I believe it costs around $60 or so to do it.
