installing old software on new laptop?

can i install microsoft office small business (mainly i want to install excell and word) on my laptop but the version of microsoft office that i own is for windows 2000. will it still work on my new windows xp laptop?

What version is Office?

I should work. I just installed a Windows 95 version of my mom's genealogy program on a Windows XP computer. Windows 2000 and XP are both NT.

Yeah it should be just fine. I have installed Office 97 on my XP partition.
