I think my ipod is dead...Help!

For my christmas in 2006 i got a U2 ipod

so its just over a year old now

I charged my ipod the other night...for the whole night

i went out for the day and when i came home my ipod was still on charge

I went to go and listen to it and it wont turn on at all

I have tried to fix it the way that you do when its frozen...but nothing happens

Is my ipod dead? or have i just buggered the battery?

If I leave mine on the i-home for too long it dies on me and I have to reboot. I think it's overcharged or overheated. Or just old ...
